During Atonement 2012 I was given a vivid dream in which I revisited three prophetic encounters that occurred in the mid-90s. One of them involved a vision that I was given of a Brown Eagle beautifully gliding across a body of water. Following the Brown Eagle I saw a White Dove and then behind him a regal White Eagle.

I intuitively knew in this experience that the Brown Eagle represented a profound prophetic message that was given in the prior generation that is essential in the preparation of a body of people to function as a "Dove Company." This body of people will be uniquely prepared and qualified to function as friends of the Bridegroom to prepare the Bride of Christ (White Eagle) without spot or wrinkle.

Our ministry has been dedicated to recapturing the revelatory messages of the Voice of Healing/Latter Rain Revival and incorporating them in everything we say and do along with the fresh understanding of those messages given in this hour. The Dove Company will be endowed with not only a 21st-century apostolic mandate but also the Spirit and Power of Elijah to help turn the hearts of this young generation back to the faith of our first century Apostolic Fathers in the order of Paul and John.

Furthermore, I once again saw that the Brown Eagle ministry or, the prophetic messages of the prior generation, has been opposed by two diabolical spirits attempting to hinder this generation from embracing that truth. One was criticism and the other fanaticism.

I saw these two spirits functioning like book ends coming from two diametrically opposing directions yet with the same determination to squelch the prophetic release of God's Kingdom and hinder the harvest. The first was a dark wave of fanaticism that will sweep behind the Kingdom truths that were revealed with the expectation of pressing them beyond Biblical parameters and proper balance.

The Fear of Fanaticism

Fanaticism is simply defined as "wildly excessive or irrational devotion, dedication, our enthusiasm; an extreme zeal or enthusiasm as in religion or politics." Unfortunately, Church history is filled with more instances of spiritual fanaticism than we could possibly enumerate and this has been especially true surrounding the ministry of William Branham.

Every revival in modern times had its fanatical element. Clearly, the prophetic movement has had its fair share of hype and fanaticism that has effectually driven many away from this vitally important aspect of our heritage. Even so, we must embrace the admonition of 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 saying:

Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; ...

The diabolical intent of this spirit is to drive things beyond Biblical balance and sway people away from the core truth because of the fanatical element that the more grounded Christians desire to distance themselves from.

Of course, fanaticism must be defined within a certain context. I remember as a young college student in the late 70s, that word got back to my father that I was born again and participating in an on-campus Presbyterian Fellowship. Naturally, the Presbyterian movement is not known for excessive spiritual manifestations yet my unsaved father called me into his office at that time and expressed his concern that I had become, to use his exact phrase, "a religious fanatic."

This perception primarily stemmed from the fact that I was very zealous about the salvation I had discovered and often prayed, read my Bible and attended Bible studies with other students. You can imagine his shock when I became a Holy Ghost "Book of Acts" preacher. Fortunately, he came around and accepted the Lord Jesus as his Redeemer shortly before his death in 2005.

The point is I do not believe that I would have genuinely fallen into the definition of a fanatic as I am seeing it today. The fanatical spirit will have a tendency to cause genuine Kingdom seekers to sway away from the truth in order to distance themselves from the fanatical element. That would be tragic!

Historical Observation

History records this fascinating observation concerning Martin Luther. Although Luther made glaring mistakes involving Israel and the Jewish people, it remains a historical fact that God used him to launch a great Reformation for God's people. Many historians marveled not at the fact that he was able to survive his direct assault against the religious organizational structure of the day that possessed great political power to eradicate its enemies, but that he was able to keep his head above all the fanaticism that followed his movement.

My experience revealed the tendency of many saints to turn away from vitally important truth because of various fanatical elements that have and will continue to attach themselves to that truth. We must be like the Bereans and study the Scriptures to see if these things be so. If indeed it is supported by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit then we must embrace the balanced truth in order to become what we are called to be, despite the fanatical element.

The Spirit of Criticism

The other spirit that I saw coming from the opposite direction was criticism. Criticism is defined as "the act or instance of making an unfavorable or severe judgment, comment, analysis or interpretation of one's theory, doctrine or life." From what I saw, this season will produce even more harsh critical religious opposition to Kingdom truth with the hope of deterring the emerging army.

Like fanaticism, history is littered with countless examples of unwavering criticism against spiritual outpourings and movements. This was clearly seen in the Azusa Street Revival, the Voice of Healing Revival in the ministries of A. A. Allen, William Branham and others. Even the Charismatic Renewal has seen its share of harsh criticism.

In my experience, I was personally told that the one that I must be the most cautious of is fanaticism, although I am to also be aware of the critical spirit. As an individual, I would be more prone to distance myself from the fanatical element than to give into criticism. Even so, we must develop fortitude like the early apostles to forge this new day and present to God's people revelatory truth that has been reserved for our day.

We are literally living in the day foreseen by Jeremiah when he said:

Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand). Jeremiah 33:3 AMP

Therefore, it should be no surprise to anyone that much of this truth extends beyond traditional belief structures and into the realm of revelation. The Word of God is to be revealed in this hour on a scale never before seen in Church history.

That is the prophetic directive of Daniel 12 and Revelation 10! It will expedite the emergence of God's people in great power and facilitate the harvest. This prophetic promise will be realized despite spiritual opposition including fanaticism & criticism.

A Major Shift

I believe these revelations are indicating a shift in our emphasis beginning in the fall of 2012 into a more aggressive and offensive posture that will not merely hold ground but begin to noticeably take ground. An apostolic commissioning is soon to take place with many in the order of Paul's in Acts 22:14-16:

"The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear an utterance from His mouth. "For you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard. Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name."

This fourfold apostolic mandate is experiential in nature. He was commissioned;

I. To Know His Will.
II. To See the Righteous One.
III. To Hear Utterances from His Mouth.
IV. To be a Witness or Testifier of What is Seen and Heard.

Then I heard the question asked: Why do you delay? We are entering a season of no more delay. I believe this will be true for the remnant that has been equipped, refined and prepared for this mandate.

21st-century Messengers of the Kingdom will be commissioned and set forth with profound revelation of the Father's heart. They will be brightly illuminated lights in the midst of great darkness. The Scriptures tell us that His Messengers will turn many back from iniquity by preserving knowledge and causing mankind to seek instruction from their mouths (Malachi 2:6-7).

There will be notable acceleration in the emergence of present-day apostolic ministry. Much of this will be done with team ministry as opposed to "lone rangers." Those who participate in this fresh anointing will have experienced God's threshing floor having all mixture and corruption sifted from their soul.

...But First, Christlike Leaders Must Emerge

The appearance of "church" as we know it is about to change radically! True apostolic and prophetic leadership is about to emerge the leadership of Christ the King in and through His Body. The Lord is about to raise up leaders characterized by His heart, the heart of a genuine servant!

This is great news! The Spirit of God is now releasing His divinely appointed and anointed leaders. Who are these emerging leaders? Are they special people with amazing charisma, outstanding gifts and a powerful anointing? Not necessarily! The enemy wants us to believe that God only uses "special people," but nothing could be farther from Biblical truth (see 1 Corinthians 1:26).

Beloved brothers and sisters, these coming leaders are "whosoever will" – a phrase that Jesus used often to indicate our choice in the matter (see Matthew 7:24; 10:32-33; 16:25; 20:26-27; Mark 3:35; 8:34-35 KJV). In other words, each one of us could be and should be one of these emerging, appointed and anointed leaders!

Leaders With Christlike Character

We must remember that the Lord is looking for a people whose hearts are right with Him so that He can fully support all that they are doing (see 2 Chronicles 16:9). For this reason, the Spirit of Truth is raising up leaders with integrity and character who will teach us the vast difference between what is pure and what is profane (see Ezekiel 44:23).

Consequently, it is crucial that we walk in uprightness if we are to ascend the hill of the Lord (see Psalm 24:3-6). As we embrace accountability, we can be trusted with more true spiritual authority. Christ Jesus instructed us: If we are faithful over little, we shall become rulers over much more (see Matthew 25:21). On the other hand, if we fail to handle small things correctly, even the small things are in danger of being removed. A true leader must be found faithful and upright in both attitude and action.

Eye-Opening Encounters

Imagine ministering with the heart of our Beloved Savior and Lord! How will our heart become like our Master's, the meek and lowly Lamb of God? This transformation must and will be supernatural.

In fact, we are on the verge of awesome, life- changing encounters with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit recently spoke these words loudly in my heart:
"Expect an eye-opening experience!"

In Ephesians 1:17-18, Paul the apostle prays for us to have the eyes of our hearts flooded with divine, revelatory light. At this time, the Spirit of Truth is opening the eyes of all who are truly desperate to walk in intimacy with Christ. What will our eyes see? Christ Himself! The King of Glory! And as we see Him, we'll become like Him and manifest His servant's heart.

Explosive Growth and Challenges

This new intimacy with the Lord will also result in an explosion of signs and wonders and a great harvest of souls (see John 2:23 and John 6:1-2). Along with this great ingathering of new Believers, however, will also come great problems, similar to what the early Church experienced in Acts 6:1-7. As "fishers of men," we are about to understand that, just as fish dragged in by nets are not already cleaned and prepared, this great harvest of souls will not come into the Kingdom cleansed from the world but with many needs and wounds, addictions and strongholds.

Necessary Preparations!

The Church must be equipped to handle this overwhelming growth and to minister to waves of people from many diverse backgrounds and levels of society. Now is the time to begin making the necessary preparations for what is ahead. As a wise person once said, "To fail to plan is to plan to fail!" We must be prepared to minister to this great harvest in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, not in our own strength, our own ideas or our own will. This supernatural harvest requires supernatural, dunamis power and agape, Christlike love. Only Heaven on earth will suffice!

It is imperative that we receive from God the insights and information we need to launch to the next level. We need His wisdom, not our own. We require His direction, not our selfish ambitions and "good ideas." And we must walk in His glorious power and anointing, not our fancy programs and titles. God is preparing leadership to receive HIS heart for the people!

True Apostles and Prophets

Thankfully, in response to this explosive growth and increasing need, God will raise up strong apostolic leadership. But first, it is imperative that we seek a much deeper understanding and clearer revelation of the office of the prophet and apostle. The Spirit of God is releasing this spirit of revelation now to understand and embrace these offices and to discover that these "titles" are more than just labels. The apostle and prophet are divine functions of the Spirit working through anointed, appointed and chosen individuals.

Where Honor is Due

Just attaching or wearing labels will continue to foster confusion and frustrate the emerging ministries of the apostle and the prophet. Beloved Believers, we should feel a deep concern for how loosely these terms have been bantered about in churches. It has been correctly stated that we devalue our spiritual currency by using these terms so loosely.

It is extremely important that the Body of Christ honor and embrace the five-fold ministries (see Ephesians 4:11-16). To be sure, God has some true apostolic ministries operating in the Church today, largely in countries where the Gospel has had an explosive impact. Apostolic leadership is necessary in regions of rapid numerical growth. Yet too often today in the American Church, we see apostolic ministry proclaimed where there is little fruit to show for it. But, thankfully, that is about to change!

Get Ready...In a Posture of Humility

Without question, we stand at the threshold of massive transition, and our response will determine whether the transition will be smooth or chaotic. We do not have to be rocked by the turbulence of change; rather, if we correctly position ourselves in a posture of genuine humility, motivated to build the Kingdom of God and not our own ministries, we will see an outstanding move of the Spirit of God...and supernatural growth!

Just as in 2 Kings 7:1-20, we have underestimated the provisions of God for our generation. Now is the time to walk in the revealed light. We need not stumble in the darkness of religious ramblings but walk in Kingdom aims and divine purposes (see Ephesians 5:14-18). We will all be surprised by what God has in store for this end-time generation!

These are unusual days of destiny and we must arise to the challenge. God is looking for ordinary saints whose hearts are passionately burning to establish the King in His Kingdom. If we seek intimacy with our King and pray that the eyes of our heart be opened, He will establish our character and use us as anointed leaders in the great harvest ahead!

If the Lord had made spirituality both attractive and easy to attain, multitudes would have followed Him: "For many are called, but few are chosen" (Matthew 22:14).

There is a vast difference between a prophet and a politician. The term "grass roots" refers to the discovery of what people think and want. The politician then offers what the majority wants and, as a result, becomes popular and is elected. In other words, the politician seeks out which way the majority is going. Then, he stands in front of them and says, "Follow me."

But the prophet stands alone and says, "You are going the wrong way, turn around." The politician is popular because he relates to the majority. The prophet is never popular because his word is costly and requires change. People often are deceived because they choose that which is presently comfortable, rather than being willing to pay the "price of truth."

"Buy the truth, and sell it not..." Proverbs 23:23

Truth is always costly and the result may not be seen, but to choose less, in the long run, is much more costly.

"But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required..." Luke 12:48

Those who continually look for "something for nothing" are open to deception. Many of these will compromise rather than submit to the Lord's way. The Lord works very slowly, but very thoroughly, as He is more interested in what we are becoming than in what we are doing. Our "self" will always seek comfort and a life of ease.

The enemy of our spiritual life also sought for his personal gain.

For you have said in your heart: "I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High." Isaiah 14:13-14 NKJV

Satan sought his own will and comfort – "I will." Jesus always said, "Thy will be done." Jesus never acted on His own, or sought His own gain and comfort.

After Jesus was baptized, the heavens opened and the Father spoke, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 17:5). The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus, and the approbation, or the favor of God, rested upon Him.

But, immediately after this, He was led into the wilderness where He was tested for forty days. At the end of this time, Jesus became intensely hungry, and the enemy came to remind Him that He could do something about this intense hunger. Jesus refused, saying that His Father had not told Him to do this.

Each of us "hungers" for all kinds of things. We can submit these "hungers" to the will and to the Word of God, as Jesus did – "It is written..." Or, we can act on our own, seeking self-satisfaction. In effect, satan said, "If you are the Son of God, you do not need to be hungry; therefore, You should do something about it."

Satan acted very concerned and may have shed some sympathy tears about the hunger that Jesus was experiencing. Had Jesus done this, satan would have viciously turned on Him just as soon as He had satisfied His hunger by turning stones into bread. Satan could now say, "I hungered for prestige and popularity. I wanted to be seen and heard, so I acted on it ("I will ascend"). Now, You cannot judge me, as You fed Your hunger, and now, You are no different from me."

If Jesus had failed this simple but profound test, it would have resulted in His becoming disqualified to become our Savior. Rather, Jesus said, "...Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word..." (Luke 4:4). Later, the angels came and fed Him a much better meal.

Jesus said, "...I do nothing of Myself...." (John 8:28). Jesus walked on water because He had a word to do so. Thus, Jesus was not walking on water but on the "substance" of the word that He had heard from His Father (see Matthew 14:25-31).

While in the boat, Peter said, "Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come..." Jesus responded with the word, "Come." Peter stepped out of the boat and began to walk, not on water, but on the word that he had received – "Come." He did well until he looked down from Jesus to the water, and as a result, began to sink. But Jesus reached out and took him by the hand and pulled him up. The Lord is always present in every test.

Our being tested precedes the blessing. Thus, Acts 1:8 becomes a powerful present word:

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

The word "after" confirms to us that we must first be tested before we can speak the word of the Lord with substance and power.

This is the price that must be paid.

Many can say, "I have some truth." Jesus said, "I am the truth." He could only say this because He chose to put the will of His Father ahead of His own comfort and satisfaction.

There is no easy formula to success, as there is always a price. When we choose the purpose of the Lord rather than our own satisfaction and comfort, it can be said that we are "Buying the truth" (Proverbs 23:23).

Many are called, but few are willing to pay the price of truth. May we be found among those who are willing to do so.
