When the Scriptures refer to the "heavenly host," we usually think of "choirs of angels."

The word "host" in the Bible meant "army" (Joshua 5:13-14). It is an important truth: the hosts of Heaven are worshiping armies. Indeed, no one can do warfare who is not first a worshiper of God.

The Central Issue In Tribulation: Worship

One does not have to penetrate deeply into the Revelation of John to discover that both God and the devil are seeking worshipers (see Revelation 7:11; 13:4; 14:7, 11). Time and time again the line is drawn between those who "worship the beast and his image" and those who worship God.

In the last great battle before Jesus returns, the outcome of every man's life shall be weighed upon a scale of worship: In the midst of warfare and conflict, to whom will we bow, God or satan?

Yet, while this warfare shall culminate in the establishment of the Lord's Kingdom on earth (see Revelation 11:15), we must realize the essence of this battle is the central issue in our warfare today. Will we faithfully worship God during satanic assault and temptation? True worship must emerge in the context of our lives now. For no man will worship through the great battles of tomorrow who complains in the mere skirmishes of today.

You will remember that the Lord's call to the Israelites was a call to worship and serve Him in the wilderness (see Exodus 7:16). Indeed, when Moses first spoke of God's loving concern, we read that the Hebrews "bowed low and worshiped" (Exodus 4:31). But when trials and pressures came, they fell quickly into murmuring, complaining and blatant rebellion. Their worship was superficial, self-serving and conditional – an outer form without an inner heart of worship.

This same condition of shallow worship prevails in much of Christianity today. If a message is given that speaks of the Lord's great care for His people, with eagerness do we bow low and worship. But as soon as the pressures of daily living arise or temptations come, how quickly we rebel against God and resist His dealings! The enemy has easy access to the soul that is not protected by true worship of the Almighty! Indeed, the Lord's purpose with Israel in the wilderness was to perfect true worship, which is based upon the reality of God, not circumstances. The Lord knows that the heart that will worship Him in the wilderness of affliction will continue to worship in the promised land of plenty.

Without true worship of God, there can be no victory in warfare. For what we bleed when we are wounded by satanic assault or difficult circumstances is the true measure of our worship. You see, what comes out of our hearts during times of pressure is in us, but hidden during times of ease. If you are a true worshiper, your spirit will exude worship to God no matter what battle you are fighting. In warfare, worship creates a wall of fire around the soul.

Protecting Your Heart Through Worship

Most of us understand the basic dynamics of the human soul. We have been taught, and rightly so, that the soul is the combination of the mind, will and emotions. Generally speaking, when the enemy comes against the Church, he targets any of these three areas. We must see that the protection of these areas is of vital importance in our war against satan.

To further illuminate the nature of this battle, let us add that, in addition to the mind, the will and the emotions, the soul is made of events and how we responded to those events. Who we are today is the sum of what we have encountered in life and our subsequent reactions. Abuses and afflictions hammer us one way, encouragement and praise inflate us another. Our reaction to each event, whether that event was positive or negative, is poured into the creative marrow of our individuality, where it is blended into the nature of our character.

What we call memory is actually our spirit gazing at the substance of our soul. With few exceptions, those events that we remember the most have also shaped us the most. Indeed, the reason our natural minds cannot forget certain incidents is because those events have literally become part of our nature.

Our soul is shaped by how well or poorly we handled our past experiences. When Scripture commands us to not look back and to "forget...what lies behind" (Philippians 3:13; see Luke 9:62), it is saying we must undo the consequences that have come from our unchristlike reactions. With God, this is not impossible, for though the events of our lives are irreversible, our reactions to those events can still be changed. As our wrong reactions to the past change, we change. In other words, although we cannot alter the past, we can put our past upon the "altar" as an act of worship. A worshiping heart allows God to heal and restore the soul.

All of us receive a portion of both good and evil in this world. But for life to be good, God, who is the essence of life, must reach into our experiences and redeem us from our negative reactions. The channel through which the Lord extends Himself, even into our past, is our love and worship of Him.

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God..." (Romans 8:28). The key for the fulfillment of this verse is that we become lovers of God in our spirits. Bad things become good for "those who love God." When we are given to loving Him, all that we have passed through in life is washed and redeemed in that love. Bad becomes good by the power of God.

Therefore, it is essential to both the salvation of our souls and our protection in warfare that we be worshipers. The ship that safely carries us through the storms of adversity is worship.

Psalm 84 expresses in praise to God the wonderful effect worship has upon the soul. "How blessed is the man whose strength is in You, in whose heart are the highways to Zion! Passing through the valley of Baca [weeping] they make it a spring; the early rain also covers it with blessings" (vv. 5-6).

If you are "ever praising" God (Psalm 84:4), your worship of God will transform the negative assault of the enemy into "a spring" of sweet, refreshing waters. No matter what befalls a worshiper, their "valley of weeping" always becomes a spring covered "with blessings." You cannot successfully engage in warfare, nor pass safely through the wilderness of this life, without first becoming a worshiper of God.

Worship: The Purpose Of Creation

We were created for God's pleasure. We were not created to live for ourselves but for Him. And while the Lord desires that we enjoy His gifts and His people, He would have us know we were created first for His pleasure. In these closing moments of this age, the Lord will have a people whose purpose for living is to please God with their lives. In them, God finds His own reward for creating man. They are His worshipers. They are on earth only to please God, and when He is pleased, they also are pleased.

The Lord takes them further and through more pain and conflicts than other men. Outwardly, they often seem "smitten of God, and afflicted" (Isaiah 53:4). Yet to God, they are His Beloved. When they are crushed, like the petals of a flower, they exude a worship, the fragrance of which is so beautiful and rare that angels weep in quiet awe at their surrender. They are the Lord's purpose for creation.

One would think that God would protect them, guarding them in such a way that they would not be marred. Instead, they are marred more than others. Indeed, the Lord seems pleased to crush them, putting them to grief. For in the midst of their physical and emotional pain, their loyalty to Christ grows pure and perfect. And in the face of persecutions, their love and worship toward God become all-consuming.

Would that all Christ's servants were so perfectly surrendered. Yet God finds His pleasure in us all. But as the days of the Kingdom draw near and the warfare at the end of this age increases, those who have been created solely for the worship of God will come forth in the power and glory of the Son. With the high praises of God in their mouth, they will execute upon His enemies the judgment written (see Psalm 149). They will lead as generals in the Lord's army of worshipers.

As we just celebrated the resurrection of Jesus, let us resolve to live by this truth. Spurgeon once said, "Very few Christians believe in the resurrection." When I read this, I thought it was a misprint, but I immediately had the witness of the Holy Spirit that it was true. We are told in Romans 10:10 that we must believe in our hearts, not just our minds, for it to result in righteousness. We believe in the doctrine of the resurrection, but if we really believed in the resurrection in our hearts, our lives would be radically different.

How would they be different? First, we would not be so consumed with the things that are temporary, but rather with the things that are eternal. There is a saying that some are "so heavenly minded that they are not earthly good," but the truth is that many Christians are so earthly minded that they are not doing much good for Heaven or earth. The historic truth is that those who were the most heavenly minded are the ones who have always done the most good for this present world.

Those who are heavenly minded, who are obeying the exhortation to seek first the Kingdom, are the freest people on the earth, and they will become more and more obvious in the times to come. We are told in Colossians 3:1-4:

Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

A nurse once asked why Christians did not die in a better way. She could not understand why they were so fearful if they believed in Christ and had eternal life. This is a good question. Every Christian should die with the greatest joy and expectation. We should also live the same way, as the most free people on earth because we are not bound by the ultimate yoke of bondage – the fear of death.

The resurrection is the greatest hope that even the worst thing that could ever happen will result as a victory. As we are told in II Corinthians 2:14: "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place." So for those who follow Him, it is not a matter of if they will have victory, but how. If we follow Christ, we cannot lose.

Just as the most celebrated victories in war or sports are those that are won against the greatest odds, the same is true in Christ. We want to see the supernatural power of God, but we just don't want to be put in a place where we must have it. We want to see the great victories, but we don't want to find ourselves in the place where we must have them. We are in the times when we must, so let's embrace the opportunities.

Even the great heroes of The Bible grew in the faith until they could be used this way. David fought with the lion and bear before he faced Goliath. The same is true with us. He may one day lead us into a great and historic conflict and victory, but we must not miss the little ones today that are intended to prepare us for what is to come.

Rejoice in every victory regardless of how big or small. Embrace every trial regardless of how big or small. If we are following Christ, it is impossible for us to not experience victory in everything – that is the only way He will ever lead us. Even so, as the Scripture reads above, it is "triumph in Christ," not just ours. What did His triumph look like?

The Greatest Victory

The greatest victory there will ever be was the Cross. However, it did not look like a victory. When Jesus was nailed to the Cross, it looked like evil had prevailed against the greatest Good to ever walk the earth, but what looked like the greatest defeat was the greatest victory. So great victories may not always look like great victories at first. Therefore, we cannot give up hope regardless of how it may look like evil has prevailed. Evil may appear to win for a time, but it cannot last. The ultimate victory of Christ is sure and it is for eternity.

Those who believe in their hearts in the resurrection are freed from the ultimate fear, and therefore they will be the most free and happy people on the earth. As we come to believe in our hearts that Christ always leads us in His triumph, that in everything there will be ultimate victory, then how can we fail to face every battle with courage?

We are promised by the Word of God in Romans 8:28 that all things will work out for our good.

If we believe His Word is true, then in every battle we should become joyfully expectant of a victory, which is what we are told in James 1:2-4:

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

The "perfect and complete, lacking in nothing" that he speaks of here is Christlikeness. Everything in our lives is intended to bring forth the nature of Christ in us, and by this one thing we can understand all things. This is also stated in the verse right after Romans 8:28 when we are told that all things will work together for our good. Let's read these two verses together:

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren (Romans 8:28-29).

We are called to be heirs of God in Christ. There is no higher calling in all of creation. Everything happening in our lives is intended to prepare us for this high calling by working in us Christ's nature. Christ is the answer to every human problem, and He is the answer to every problem we're now facing. It is not just that He has the answers, but He is the answer. If we are living in the knowledge that the One we serve is over all rule and authority and dominion, how can we fear? Every challenge is an opportunity to grow in faith, so a key to the victorious life is to not waste our trials.

The Hallmark of the Saints

In Romans 14:17, we are told that the Kingdom of God is "righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." If we are doing what is right in the sight of the Lord, we will know a peace and joy that is greater than can ever be known in any other way. As the troubles, fears, and darkness in the world increase, those who are living in the Kingdom will stand out even more because of their peace and joy. Peace and joy will be one of the greatest signs that one is a true citizen of the Kingdom in the times to come. How can we fail to have peace and joy when we know and follow the King of kings who sits above all rule and authority and dominion and whose Kingdom is surely coming?

It is written that "there will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace" (see Isaiah 9:7). Would you like to invest in a stock that could never go down, but would always increase in value? Invest in the Kingdom and your investment will forever increase.

Those who seek His Kingdom first will be increasing in the peace and joy of His Kingdom. As we are told in Proverbs 4:18, "the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day." The normal Christian life is one that gets brighter and brighter. Regardless of how dark things may become in this world, we have a different reality that is getting ever brighter.

The times in the world will get darker, but this world is not our reality. As we are told in Isaiah 60:1-2, when darkness is covering the earth and deep darkness the peoples, His glory will rise on His people, and His glory will even appear on them. Those who stay on "the path of the righteous" will only know increasing light.

The time of the greatest darkness in this world will be the time when we will see His glory on us. Then we are told in the next verse, Isaiah 60:3, that the nations will come to the brightness of your rising. The light will win and the nations will come to it. It is darkest just before dawn, and it is getting darker for a time, but this will only make the glory brighter when it is revealed on God's people.

Our Purpose in These Times

The fear of death is the ultimate fear, so once this fear is overcome by the assurance of the resurrection, breaking the yoke of any other fear will be easy. This is why the celebration and remembrance of the resurrection is so crucial to the Christian life. As we abide in the knowledge of this truth, we can more easily overcome any other fear.

The devil uses fear to oppress and control. In Christ, we walk by faith not by fear. Fear is fundamentally a device of satan, and those who let fear control them are serving him more than Christ regardless of what they may say.

This is made obvious in Revelation 21:8:

But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

Here we see that the cowardly is listed before the abominable, murderers, immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and liars. The fact is that those who are led by fear, so as to be cowardly, are not Christ's because we are told in Revelation 20:14-15 that those who are cast into the lake of fire are those whose names are not listed in the Book of Life.

Those who truly believe will be courageous, and they will not be controlled by fear. There is no place for cowardice in Christianity. In this way, those who truly believe in Him will soon be distinguished. Let us resolve now that fear will not control us, but we will live by faith in the risen Son of God. We are called to be dead to this world, and what can be done to a dead man? A dead man does not have fears of failure, or rejection, or any other fear. If we have died with Christ, we can now walk in the power of His resurrection and should have no fear.

The prophets and righteous of old desired to see the times that we have been privileged to live in. Those who have dreamed of the time when we get to meet and talk to the great heroes of the faith will be shocked to see that they were even more desirous of talking to the saints who lived in these times. The greatest faith and the greatest exploits will soon be demonstrated by those who have not wasted their trials, and therefore will not waste this greatest of opportunities to walk with God.

Many things will shake in 2012, but we have a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, and all that is being shaken is in order to reveal the Kingdom. Build your life on what can never be shaken, and the hope that can never disappoint us. Resolve that you will live in faith in the resurrection.

“The are procedures, that are taking an end at this time and can not manifested anymore in the way as it happened in the past!
The reason is, because it happened a change in the process of thinking under My people!
It looks for you, as you have been going back but the potential of the inheritance in the field and in the soil, that you have entered, has changed drastically, so that you are able like the disciples in the time of Jesus to collect the ears to transfer the fire of God, which you carry in your heart to those who have ears to hear, says the spirit of the prophet (see Ruth 1:22; Ruth 2:2-3; Luke 6:1)!
There is the place of the threshing floor, where evil oppression is taken away and the real cluster of the love of God is being revealed (see Luke 3:17; Ruth 3:6-9)!
Many who are not really recognizing My love are fearing the threshing floor, where the tares getting separated from the wheat!
But for those, who know Me, it is the place which drives them in confidence to My Throne of Grace and where they recognize Me deeper as their Bridegroom, says Jesus!
It is the time, where I appear as THE GARDENER (see John 20:14-16; Song of Songs 4:16; Song of Songs 5:1; Song of Songs 6:2-3)!
There is the apostolic order in the midst of My Bride, that is established like Thrones to show My governmental authority at the set place of responsibility, says the Lord (see Psalm 122:3-5)!
There is the LORD in the facet of JAHWE ROI, who is laying His emphasis to the support as well as to the rod and the staff (see Psalm 23:1.4)!
Do not fear the intimidating force of “Alexander”, that is trying by bad words and rumors to transform your ploughshare to a weapon of bitterness!
Turn away and leave the judgment to God (see 2 Timothy 4:14-15)!
Keep attention on the rod and staff of God in this time, that is silencing the murmuring and bringing it to an end, because the watching power of the “Ajin” of God will manifest and enlighten the darkness as well as bringing confusion in the camp of the enemy (see Numbers 17:20.23; Exodus 14:24; Jeremiah 1:11-12)!”
