The Time of the Counting of the Sheaves and Elijah on Mount Carmel - Part I of II

Note:
The following message is the first part of a teaching that consists of two parts, and we recommend reading the message chronologically.

As we are in the time of counting the sheaves, which is preparing us for Shavuot’s feast day at the time of Pentecost season, let us go into a revelation the Lord has given me with regard to the window of time of Shavuot/Pentecost (cf. Leviticus 23:15-17.22 i.c.w. Acts 2:1-4).

Leviticus 23:15-17.22:
15 “ ‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks.
16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord.
17 From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the Lord. …
22 “ ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God.’ ”

Acts 2:1-4:
1 When the day of Pentecost (Note: Shavuot- feast of weeks) came, they were all together in one place.
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

The Counting of the Omer/Sheaves and the Coming Revelation

=> The counting of the Omer (Note: sheaf), which the people of Israel begin every year in the cycle of redemption in the biblical month of ‘Nissan|Aviv’, hides the key to understanding the process towards the promise.

Throughout history, Israel was repeatedly reminded of its escape from Egypt from generation to generation. Passover became the day to remember the deliverance and to begin a counting from one harvest entry point until harvest was moving into fullness. This became known as the counting of the Omer. This counting provides a time-sequenced guide that opens the way for new revelation and multiplication.

The real theme of this time of counting is the expectation of breakthrough.

Counting with an expectation for visitation and harvest causes a new level of faith to arise. Biblically, we are in the time between the barley harvest and the wheat harvest. So, this is a time of counting from HARVEST to HARVEST. Therefore, we should realign our emotions so that the function of ‘expectation’ is restored and receptive to the Holy Spirit. In addition, we should allow a new harvest mentality to develop so that we are positioned for multiplication.

This requires that we allow the Holy Spirit to shift our vision where necessary so that it is redefined and established, so that we can rise above our current status and release the next stage of harvest.

The time frame between Passover and Shavuot/Pentecost contains great revelation as we count the Omer or sheaves from a Spirit-filled perspective.

The time between Passover and Pentecost is a time of transition. Transition means to cross over. The Omer time is the time to reflect on things, how to use your supplies and build up supplies for the future. This is an important time of growth and introspection. It is advisable to review all revelations of the past season and the way we have dealt with supplies in the last season.

In addition, the counting of the Omer is meant to remind us of the connection between Passover (Note: commemorates the Exodus from Egypt) and Pentecost (Note: commemorates the giving of the Torah). It can also be referred to as the time between the eternal established victory through Jesus Christ and the increase of the Holy Spirit.

This counting reminded the Israelites that their redemption from slavery was not complete until they had received the Torah.

The people of Israel were delivered from Egypt so that they could carry out the will and purposes of God on earth. An important reason for this season is that we express our desire for a revelation of God to come alive in us. As we engage in this season of the ‘counting of the Omer’ we will enter into new revelation.

Our covenant is based on the understanding of the sun, moon and earth in accordance with the Father’s plan of redemption (cf. Genesis 1:14-19).

Genesis 1:14-19:
14 And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.’ And it was so.
16 God made two great lights – the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 And there was evening, and there was morning – the fourth day.

The Word of God revolves around the biblical Feasts. They were holy assemblies.

Remembering these physical events allows us to understand the spiritual significance of what has come and what is yet to come! The Feasts forecasted His sacrifice for us. They also foretell the complete redemption of His people and the alignment of all nations ,which are His inheritance (cf. Psalm 2).

With the so-called ‘weaving of the Firstfruits’ at Passover time before the LORD and then at Pentecost/Shavuot (Note: Feast of Weeks), where we receive the anointing to gather and increase, our faith is displayed and our confidence arises for our provisions to be released.

In this day and age, it is useless to participate in the Feasts in a legalistic way. We cannot keep them, but we can honor the Heavenly Father by remembering Him and receiving from Him at these appointed times (cf. Galatians 3:10).

Galatians 3:10:
10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.’

We no longer have to look for an ultimate sacrifice - it has already been offered on the cross. This has broken Satan’s dominion over us personally and over humanity as a whole. However, we are still called to ‘enter’ into the fullness of this plan.  By participating in and remembering the Feasts NOW, they cease to be shadows of things to come. They actually cause us to see our future path to our promise. <= (Note: The text set in ‘=>’ is based on strategic advice from Chuck D. Pierce from the 4/15/2025 prayer letter.)

King Ahab and Elijah and The Reason of a Drought

In connection with the time of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit led me to 1 Kings 17-18 and referred to the prophet Elijah, who faced King Ahab, the seventh king of Israel in the drought that Elijah had prophesied on behalf of God (cf. 1 Kings 17:1).

1 Kings 17:1:
1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”

When we are in periods of dryness caused by God, it is important to the Heavenly Father to reveal the power of His Lamb who was slain. At the same time, it is important for Him to show us to which extent, He has already established His divine order in us by His Holy Spirit. This is equivalent to an open riverbed in a dry period.

So, it was no coincidence that John the Baptist was placed in the desert at the Jordan, the main river of Israel (Note: means ‘the descendant or rich in rapids’) and prophesied there (cf. John 1:23-29).

John 1:23-29:
23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet [cf. Isaiah 40:3], “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’ ”…
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

The Great Threshing Sledge and God’s Whirlwind

A river with its banks and structure and its depth only becomes apparent to the human eye when there is a persistent dry period. This principle should encourage us and even reveal to us that even though we might feel that people are taking advantage of us by ‘walking on/over or crossing us’, we are not a small worm, but a great threshing sledge that works with the high whirlwind of God who is the Holy Spirit (cf. Isaiah 41:14-16 i.c.w. Acts 2:1-2)!

Isaiah 41:14-16:
14 Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 “See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.
16 You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the Lord and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

Acts 2:1-2:
1 When the day of Pentecost (Note: Shavuot – feast of weeks) came, they were all together in one place.
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

The Strong Teeth of the Bride

God has given us strong teeth in order to be a ‘weapon’. It is about the true love, unity and purity of the saints in the Bride of Christ by fellowship in the Word of God (cf. Song of Songs 4:2 i.c.w. Ephesians 5:25-27).

Song of Songs 4:2:
2 Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn, coming up from the washing. Each has its twin; not one of them is alone.

Ephesians 5:25-27:
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

All Things Must Serve Saints for the Best!

To come back to King Ahab and Elijah, I would like to speak positively about the seventh King of Israel in this message, even though he cooperated with Jezebel in his time and allowed her to rule over him.

The letter to the Romans reveals to us that all things must serve for good to those who love God (cf. Romans 8:28).

Romans 8:28:
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Even if there were false prophets in the time of Ahab who rebelled against the true prophets of God, we can take from this whole event or the confrontation by the ‘Spirit of Elijah’ a strategy for this time, which I will explain later (cf. 1 Kings 18:18-19 i.c.w. Revelation 2:20).

1 Kings 18:18-19:
18 “I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “But you and your father’s family have. You have abandoned the Lord’s commands and have followed the Baals.

19 Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

Revelation 2:20:
20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.

The Drought Announced by the Prophet Elijah – The Dew and the Rain

Due to the decree of the prophet Elijah, there was a three-and-a-half-year drought in Israel, in which there was neither dew nor rain until God allowed Elijah on his behalf to open heaven again to end this drought in Israel (cf. 1 Kings 17:1 i.c.w. Luke 4:25).

1 Kings 17:1:
1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”

Luke 4:25:
25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.

In the prophetic context, this drought means that there was little revelation and less sound teaching related to God’s manifestation among His people. The reason is that dew is associated with the message of revelation and the manifestation of God in the atmosphere. Rain, on the other hand, is related to sound doctrine (cf. Deuteronomy 32:2).

Deuteronomy 32:2:
2 Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.

The Drought and God’s Order

When God, as mentioned before, comes upon His people with a period of drought, He reveals His order. He shows us how much of His Word we do already carry within us and to what extent we would have established His order in our hearts.

If we face challenges and don’t know how to deal with it and don’t receive a word of revelation in that situation, then we should look at what the Holy Spirit has already structured as divine order in us, so that we apply the truth of God in our lives which has been established. Periods of drought are destined by God to make us strong and secure in Him and to show us what fruits of the Spirit we are already bringing forth (cf. James 1:2-4 i.c.w. Jeremiah 17:8).

James 1:2-4:
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Jeremiah 17:8:
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

It is Jesus Christ who is just in phases of challenge, as the power that makes us strong (cf. 2 Corinthians 12:10).

2 Corinthians 12:10:
10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Relocation or Change of Structure

Where we feel like a dry riverbed and say to God: “We cannot do anything God!”, He says to us: “You are such a wonderful riverbed. You have such beautiful, high river banks.” By this statement He wants to let us know that we are able to carry His deep revelations coming from His heights.

Elijah, too, was commissioned by God to go to a brook in the time of the drought, which later dried up, so that the condition or structure of the brook released the Word of God in order to let him move to another structure (Note: to the sea – to Zarephath near Sidon=> lies on the Mediterranean Sea), which still carried water (Note: salt water) even in spite of the drought (cf.1 Kings 17:2-3.7-9a).

1 Kings 17:2-3.7-9a:
2 Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: 3 “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. …
7 Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
8 Then the word of the Lord came to him: 9a “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there …

Elijah had not moved only to another location, but also to a different body of water which carried a new kind of water. He went from the brook to the sea and from sweet water to salt water, which is related to the message of holiness, the depths and the full measure of God (cf. Isaiah 40:12a i.c.w. Mark 9:49-50; Colossians 4:6).

Isaiah 40:12a:
12a Who has measured the waters (Note: sea) in the hollow of his hand, ...?

Mark 9:49-50:
49 Everyone will be salted with fire.
50 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”

Colossians 4:6:
6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

The relocation of Elijah means that he tasted something different than the things he had received from God before.

The Sweet and the Salty, The Spirit of Elijah and the Resurrected Sons

Sweetness is associated with revelation (cf. 1 Samuel 14:29) and salt is associated with spice, representing holiness and truth (cf. Mark 9:49-50 i.c.w. Colossians 4:6).

Elijah got equipped in his spirit at the Mediterranean Sea to enter into a confrontation on Mount Carmel with the false prophets of Baal and Asherah. There God answered him with fire (cf. 1 Kings 18:19-40).

The ‘salt water’ also even made Elijah so bold to ask a widow who was also a mother, during the drought to give him food and water first (cf. 1 Kings 17:10.13).

1 Kings 17:10.13:
10 So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” …
13 Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.

Furthermore, Elijah pointed out to the widow with his statement that if she first invested into his prophetic anointing, she would experience supernatural care or rather multiplication in her life. This would comfort her in all of her loss (Note: she lost her husband) and during the time of drought (cf. Matthew 10:41).

Matthew 10:41:
41 Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm
