The Body of Christ in Germany is currently undergoing a spiritual upheaval, in which the Holy Spirit points out that the authority and power within the prophetic anointing is increasing in the Body of Christ.

This increase is accompanying the end of an approach in the prophetic anointing leading to the prophetic anointing being joined to apostolic authority as it carries the revelatory truth for the people of God at this time.

The Alignment of Moses and Aaron

It is similar to the alignment of Moses and Aaron, where the LORD told Moses to be God for Aaron, with Aaron acting as his mouth (cf. Exodus 4:15-16).

Exodus 4:15-16:
15 You shall speak to him (note: Aaron) and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do.
16 He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him.

This is about the connection of the two faces of God, namely that of the lion and that of the eagle. The two faces bear the words of the prophet Amos, who prophesied: ‘The lion (note: symbolizes the office of the apostle) has roared – who will not fear? The Sovereign Lord has spoken – who can but prophesy (note: eagle)?’ (cf. Amos 3:8)

The face of the lion is connected with the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of the fear of the Lord and the kingship of God. The face of the eagle is connected with the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge and with the oracles of God, which are the lots Urim (note: lights) and Thummim (note: perfections, holiness, truth, right), which represent the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the form of the will of God for the terrestrial realm.

Both faces include the call of God to exercise the Kingdom government of the Lord in the natural as well as the supernatural realm, as revealed in Colossians 3:1-4.

Colossians 3:1-4:
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

The Lord is advising us that the end of a common prophetic practice in the Body of Christ in Germany is also similar to the situation at the time of the prophet Elisha. In this context, a widow came to him, who only had a jar of oil in her house and, according to the prophet's instruction, brought empty vessels into her house, so that the oil increased and new personal economy could rise in her house (cf. 2 Kings 4:1-7).

2 Kings 4:1-7:
1 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”
2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”
3 Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few.
4 Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”
5 She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.
6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

The Increase of the Prophetic Anointing and Authority

Even though we as the Body of Christ are currently confronted with challenges and loss, this is a call from God to us as His church, that we allow the prophetic anointing to multiply to the extent determined by God.

This mother was before she became a widow married to a prophetic disciple who had learned from the prophet Elisha and thus brought the prophetic anointing into the house, which came to an end in its way when the man died.

This means that it is no longer adequate that we only let prophets or prophetic voices speak out within our communities, merely by serving people personally, in order to reveal to them God's counsel for their personal lives.

It is rather urgent that we listen to prophets in Germany and allow them to speak into the church as well as into regions in our nation, even if it is a matter of admonishing words that can shake. It is important here that the apostles, in their respective authority given by God, awaken the hearts of the believers so that the prophets with the revelatory light of God's truth are given permission to flood the hearts with the spirit of wisdom and revelation (cf. Ephesians 1:17-18 i.c.w. Acts 11:27-29; Acts 15:32).

Ephesians 1:17-18:
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, …

Acts 11:27-29:
27 During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.)
29 The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.

Acts 15:32:
32 Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.

As a result, the already established truth of the Word of God becomes revelatory truth in believers, impregnated with knowledge. The Holy Spirit leads us into a higher prophetic dimension, which is connected with the fact that we are confronted with loss or challenge in order to enter into a personal, real relationship with Him. It is now necessary to recognize in which sonship we are moving forward.

Is it the sonship that serves out of any kind of ‘slavery’ to receive recognition through works alone and justifies out of self-righteousness?

Or is it the sonship that is out of grace and close to the heart of Jesus as well as in close connection with the church, detached from denominations and church membership, and fully identifies with it in order to serve the church on behalf of God's instruction?

In 2 Kings 4:5-7 it says that the widow, here as a symbol of the Body of Christ in transition, entered a new prophetic dimension by going into her house and shut herself in with her two sons who served her in the phase of prophetic progression. Speaking in a prophetic context, these two sons represent, among other things, the power of the Word of God in the form of the Tenakh and the New Testament.

2 Kings 4:5-7:
5 She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.
6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

This phase of ‘outpouring’ contributes to the intensification of the relationship with the Heavenly Father and to the strengthening or increase in the substance of His Word, which is transformed from truth to revelatory truth (cf. Matthew 6:6).

Matthew 6:6:
6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

The increase in the substance of the Word of God is clearly illustrated by the explanation of the Hebrew word ‘jāẓaq’ for ‘pouring out’, which among other things also means ‘casting of metal’. (note: part excerpt from the Elberfelder Study Bible on the Hebrew word ‘jāẓaq – pouring out’ with the word key number: 3405)

Thus the transformation of the Word of God involves the shift from the power of the letter to the power of the Spirit (cf. 2 Corinthians 3:6).

2 Corinthians 3:6:
6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant – not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

It is also very interesting that when the measure God had predestined or assigned to the widow was filled, she then only communicated with one of her two sons. From this we can conclude that the other son was either engaged with other things in the room or was no longer present at all (cf. 2 Kings 4:6).

2 Kings 4:6
6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

In this connection the question arises for us in which sonship do we want to move forward in the future as the Body of Christ in Germany?

Is it in sonship of legalism, religion, own ideas and concepts (note: to become righteous solely on the basis of works; to have only knowledge of God; self-righteous way of life) or in sonship of faith driven by the love of God and His will to act according to James 2:20.26 (note: includes knowledge of God, which comprises the relationship with God the Father; full commitment to the truth)?
What do we choose?

James 2:20.26:
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? …
26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

At this point I would like to make it clear that the son, who was present in his mother's room, revealed to her through his reply that the measure of ‘anointing’ predestined by God had been reached. This circumstance is for us today an indication of a new time of application of the prophetic anointing, as well as the resulting ‘economy’ out of it within the Body of Christ.

Based on this, it is also clear that the church is moving from a realm of poverty, fear and loss into a prophetic dimension, which results in economy, freedom and joy, because it believes and acts according to the prophetic instruction (cf. 2 Kings 4:7).

2 Kings 4:7:
7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

In order to choose sonship that is close to the heart of Christ and in close connection with the church, detached from denominations and church membership, a very personal clarification is needed regarding how far one is willing to accept the changes that the Lord wants to make.

Are we ready to surrender everything for the Holy Spirit, and even to give up if necessary, in order to submit ourselves to the structure of the Spirit of God? The way of how God provides is closely related to our understanding of the Kingdom, its principles and effects that proceed from faith.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm

We as God's people are in the month of transition, connected with the biblical month ‘Iyar/Siw’ and the tribe of Issachar, which is why I would like to go into the meaning of portals and gateways.

This month ‘Iyar/Siw’ is the connecting month between the month of Passover and the month of Shavuot/Pentecost. It was the men of the tribe of Issachar who recognized the times and advised the people of Israel what to do (cf. 1 Chronicles 12:32).

1 Chronicles 12:32:
… 32 from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do – 200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command; …

The Capability of the Tribe of Issachar

It is the ‘sons of the tribe of Issachar’ who, through their skill, know how to keep open a ‘membrane’ of time so that the things God reveals can be seen and brought to manifestation.

This is about the effect of eternity on temporary time. The Word of God clarifies this when it says ‘when the time was fulfilled’ or ‘on the day of the Lord’ (cf. Luke 9:51; Mark 1:15; Galatians 4:4; Revelation 1:10).

Luke 9:51:
51 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

Mark 1:15:
15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Galatians 4:4:
4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, …

Revelation 1:10:
10 On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, …

These scriptures refer to the alignment of time (note: time of eternity and temporary time). It is the ability of Issachar to understand the times of God and thereby gain access to them. In order to gain access to time, it is first essential to acknowledge that God has already placed eternity in the heart of man (cf. Ecclesiastes 3:11a).

Ecclesiastes 3:11a:
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; …

This is also underlined by the statement of Jesus, who said that the Kingdom of God is in us (cf. Luke 17:21).

Luke 17:21:
… 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst (note: within you).”

The time frame of ‘Iyar/Siw’ contains among other things the call to understand God's mysteries, His nature and His times, because the LORD revealed Himself to the people of Israel in this time frame as YAHWEH – RAPHA (note: ‘The LORD, your healer.’ cf. Exodus 15:26), YAHWEH – ROI/JAIRA (note: ‘The LORD, your shepherd/provider.’) => Manna and quails were given to the people of Israel; cf. Exodus 16), YAHWEH – NISSI (note: ‘The LORD, your banner of victory.” cf. Exodus 17:15).

The Joy of God to Reveal Himself

It is the desire of God to reveal Himself to those who sincerely seek Him, love His appearance and practice the watchfulness of the Spirit (cf. Matthew 7:7; Matthew 13:11-12 i.c.w. Hebrews 11:6).

Matthew 7:7:
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 13:11-12:
11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.

Hebrews 11:6:
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

As already mentioned above, the biblical month ‘Iyar/Siw’ can be seen as a portal that carries mysteries within itself, including the existence of portals, doors and gateways that are connected with the heavenly and earthly realm. Being in a portal can be evident by the fact that its presence feels like an open heaven.

What is Meant by a Heavenly Portal?

=> The Bible uses this expression in a spiritual context as an ‘exit for crossing back and forth and for transporting ‘products’ that are sent between two locations. Spiritually speaking, this happens between two worlds.’

Supernatural portals transport and bring invisible ‘products’ to earth to materialize in the natural realm for the purpose of being used by mankind.

The word ‘exit’ includes the process of ‘export’, which can be connected with two levels (note: sender's field and receiver's field).

The united prayers of the saints on earth are taken to heaven, where they are transformed for the blessings that respond with the ‘products’ of the Creator Spirit (cf. Revelation 8:3).

These spiritual ‘products’ are destined for the earth, so the Lord established portals/gates in eternity as points of departure and entry to deliver them to the earth (cf. Micah 5:2-3; Isaiah 48:16-17).

It is ascribed to heavenly portals that they function just like the sun when it completes its tour and returns to the position of dawn or sunrise.

It is said that the portals of God go out from the east and turn. The metaphor of the sun's tour explains that the portals of the spiritual realm have times to rise and move within.

Spiritual portals/gates are similar to what is nowadays called channels or pipelines (cf. Zechariah 4:12). The spiritual portals of the ancient world were understood as places, ports or docks of divine export, from where something was sent and destined for another place. For this very reason, this makes them an open and closed mouth.

Another mouth connection that connects spiritual gates with the prophetic is that the mouth is seen as an opening for the spoken word, which the prophets, for example, use for prophecy.

If their prophecies are in the mind of God, they serve as so-called conveyors of the eternal and spiritual products of heaven, which are destined for this world and are transported on the wind of the Spirit (note: Holy Spirit and God's angels).
All this is initiated and created through prophecy. This process is supported by the truth that Jesus Christ is the Word of God and His testimony is the Spirit of prophecy (cf. John 1:14; Revelation 19:10e).

In addition, a portal/gate is generally a gate, well, dam or course in the form of a track (note: keep course).

In relation to becoming human life, a portal is related to a generated family line and the release of human life from God to earth (note: e.g. through a birth).

Furthermore, spiritual portals/gates are supported by the spiritual heavenly pillars (cf. Psalm 89:15).
When prophets see portals in the Spirit (Revelation 4:1), they understand that the Lord, as Creator, provides entry and exit points in each area so that His spiritual beings can enter and leave as needed.

Portals/gates are seen in Scripture as sources of light, illumination and blessing. They can, for example, set free cheerfulness, provision and prosperity (cf. Malachi 3:10).

They are the portals of God, which are equated with what olive trees produce, which is the shining anointing oil that reflects light (cf. Zechariah 4:12). This is why the sunlight that shines on the earth can be used as an example of a portal, because it reflects a link between heaven and earth that opens at certain times. Through intercessory prayer and other actions of spiritual processes and righteousness, portals over life can be opened or kept open.

Based on the human body, in conjunction with the people of Israel and the blood of the Lamb, who is Jesus Christ, the hands and forehead form a portal or door (cf. Exodus 12:7 i.c.w. Exodus 13:9). This principle is also reinforced by the statement of Jesus who spoke of Himself as the door, since He died on the cross as the Lamb of God, thus enabling people to enter into the true freedom of the Sons of God (cf. John 10:9 i.c.w. Romans 8:21; Galatians 5:1a).
<= (The set text in ‘=>’ is based on a part excerpt from ‘The Prophet`s Dictionary’ by Paula A. Price, Ph. D.; pages 386-389)

Thus a heavenly portal is a spherical opening of light that provides divine protection and through which the angels and heavenly beings can come and go.

The Lord has brought portals into existence with the purpose that they have their origin in the third heaven to form a channel through the second heaven with the purpose of opening up on earth. Here Jesus Christ as the door, the way, the truth and the life forms the basis for the legitimate spiritual intervention and spiritual exchange between heaven and earth and vice versa (cf. John 10:9; John 14:6).

John 10:9:
9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

John 14:6:
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

The following verses reveal the existence of heavenly portals clearly as shown:

Psalm 24:7:
7 Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

Psalm 78:23:
23 Yet he gave a command to the skies above and opened the doors of the heavens; …

Proverbs 8:34:
34 Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.

John 1:51:
51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”

Revelation 4:1-2a:
1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
2 At once I was in the Spirit, …

Based on Revelation 4:1-2a i.c.w. John 14:6 it is in the will of the Heavenly Father that we are invited, through His Son Jesus Christ, to enter and walk legally in this realm of the government of God (cf. Colossians 3:1-3).

Colossians 3:1-3:
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

When God opens His portals of heaven at a certain point in time, there is an exchange of spiritual forces, just as Jacob experienced when he was on his way to Harran and came to a place where a portal of heaven was revealed to him in a dream, through which the angels of God ascended and descended (cf. Genesis 28:10-12).

Genesis 28:10-12:
10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Harran.
11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.
12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

This portal was established because Jacob had placed a certain stone, a covenant stone (note: symbol for Jesus Christ; cf. 1 Peter 2:6-8) under his head, which formed the foundation of his upcoming altar, which he built on the basis of revelation (cf. Genesis 28:16-19).

1 Peter 2:6-8:
6 For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” (cf. Isaiah 28:16)
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” (cf. Psalm 118:22)
8 and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” (cf. Isaiah 8:14) They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

Genesis 28:16-19:
16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”
17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”
18 Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it.
19 He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz.

Based on the encounter of God with Jacob we can see that portals are consecrated places that are connected with revelation or the visitation of God. They are places where one is in the right place at the right time in the center of God's will, so that the Lord reveals legal heavenly access.
This also appears to happen again some time later with Jacob when he was in Mahanaim (Genesis 32:1-2).

Genesis 32:1-2:
1 Jacob also went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
2 When Jacob saw them, he said, “This is the camp of God!” So he named that place Mahanaim (note: two camps).

There are phases in our lives in which the Lord asks us to go to a certain place because He wants to reveal Himself to us, in order to use the existing spiritual heritage in the ground to meet us in a new way and to unlock the connected blessing of heaven in us.

This is also revealed by the change of location of Elijah, who went to Mount Horeb, where God met him (cf. 1 Kings 19:7-8.11-13).

1 Kings 19:7-8.11-13:
7 The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”
8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. …
11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

The Existence of Heavenly Portals

Even today, there are heavenly portals on earth, which must be recognized in the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the form of the gift of discernment of spirits, in order to respond to them with sensitivity and allow God to act as He desires.

The adversary tries to block these places of the portals of heaven by trying to seduce believers in Christ, so that they get diminished to look at places only with an earthly or secular view (note: two-dimensional), instead of recognizing these places from a three-dimensional perspective (note: spiritual view) and acting accordingly.

Here the renewing of the mind and the cleansing of our conscience through the blood of Christ is of special importance in order to act according to the will of God in faith (cf. Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:23 i.c.w. Hebrews 9:14).

Romans 12:2:
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world (note: two-dimensional), but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will (three-dimensional) is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Ephesians 4:23:
… 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; …

Hebrews 9:14:
14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

False Portals

Unfortunately, while many in the New Age movement acknowledge the existence of portals, the portals they recognize are those of the second heaven, the area where the prince of this world reigns (cf. Ephesians 2:2 i.c.w. 2 Corinthians 4:4). Many mistakenly believe that they hear from God, when in reality they are being deceived by a counterfeit.

These are openings of the spirit realm, where the prince of the air reigns and illegally grants people access to the realm of the spirit, which is not linked to the third heaven and is thus ‘traveled’ by the power of the soul.

When the prophet Daniel lived in Babylon, he met high-ranking angels (note: Gabriel and Michael) who had to fight with principalities that stood in their way in the spiritual realm (cf. Daniel 10:20-21).

Daniel 10:20-21:
20 So he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come;
21 but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince.)

Since the ‘prince of Persia’ from the spirit realm ruled the nation, the portal to the third heaven was blocked, similar to a faucet where the inflow is blocked by lime, so that little or no water can flow through.

As saints, it is our mission to reclaim these places with prayer, just as it is hidden in Daniel 10:21, so that the angels of the LORD will not be stopped.

The Keys to Open the Portals of Heaven

One of the important keys to experiencing an open portal of heaven is obedience to the Word of God and the guidance of His Holy Spirit as well as the renewing of the mind and subsequent action in faith in the form of acts of righteousness.

Doing the right thing at the right time, in the right place, with the right people, will almost certainly result in heaven opening and the presence of God settling down to experience His presence and fulfill the Lord's commission (cf. Acts 2:1-4).

Acts 2:1-4:
1 When the day of Pentecost (note: Shavuot) came, they were all together in one place.
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

(note: This teaching is based on a revelatory insight of John Paul Jackson.†)

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm

With this message, I want to take a look at the calling of the first disciples Jesus called to follow Him.
Some of them were so excited about this that they couldn't restrain themselves. These disciples gave a testimony of their encounter with Jesus.

Their testimony was directly connected to His presence as the son of God.
In this the presence of Jesus cooperated with the testimony of His disciples who spoke about the living truth.

Come and See!

Philip was one of the first disciples of Jesus who was called; with a statement about vision he invited Nathanael to come and see Jesus (see John 1:46b).

John 1:46b:
… 46b “Come and see,” said Philip.

Deep inside my heart I feel that it is time for the body of Christ to take hold of Philip's statement and to speak to the people.

This invitation should not be spoken from a heart filled with hope deferred or any kind of doubt but with living, convincing faith.

The Testimony of the Vision

As people of God we have to be aware that our God, the God of Israel, is powerful and that He takes action. In this we need to make sure not to speak of the signs and wonders of the past only, but to also bear witness to the present-day presence of God by our statement of vision.

It says that Nathanael was invited by Philip to come and see the presence of Jesus; this tells us that Philip already saw Jesus and he was keen for Nathanael to see Jesus, too. In this day means it that we have to be willing to leave our accustomed place or current comfort zone, when we get called by Jesus to meet Him in a new place.

When we display this willingness and leave our current comfort zone by the “testimony of vision” we start seeing the presence of Jesus and how He moves among the people in this time and serves them.

The Special Status of the First Things in the Eyes of God

There is an importance on Jesus' calling of the first disciples, because in the eyes of God all first things have a special status, and it carries a basic principle which we need to understand better (see Exodus 13:12-13; Exodus 23:19).

Exodus 13:12-13:
… 12 you are to give over to the LORD the first offspring of every womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the LORD.
13 Redeem with a lamb every firstborn donkey, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem every firstborn among your sons.

Exodus 23:19:
19 “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.

Nathanael's Appointment, the Fig Tree and its Relevance

In link with the appointment of Nathanael who, according to the gospel of John, was the fourth disciple to be called to follow Jesus, a deep revelation is hidden, which is connected to our spiritual identity in Jesus Christ.

The name “Nathanael” means “God has given.” And the number “4” is connected to the Hebrew letter “Daleth“, which in turn is connected to an “open tent entrance” or an “opened wing of a door“.

According to His word of knowledge Jesus saw Nathanael sitting beneath a fig tree (see John 1:48).

John 1:48:
48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

The fig tree represents the people of Israel and it is one of the most important fruit trees in Israel. It is no coincidence that the fig tree is indirectly mentioned by name in the biblical creation account (see Genesis 3:7-8).

Genesis 3:7-8:
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

We may assume that after the fall Adam and Eve stood close to the fig tree or even beneath it, because they used its leaves to cover their nakedness or to even hide behind it from God.

God said, Adam and Eve were allowed to eat from all the trees in the garden except from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which was located in the center of the garden (see Genesis 2:9.16-17).

Genesis 2:9.16-17:
9 The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground – trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. …
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Hence we can see that God set apart the fig tree from the other trees in the garden or rather, He emphasized it so that it received the place of a chosen tree, as it was located in the center of the garden.

In a similar way God chose His people Israel and her capital Jerusalem from among all the peoples on earth as His special possession and placed them in the center of the peoples on the earth (see Deuteronomy 7:6-7 i.c.w. Ezekiel 5:5).

Deuteronomy 7:6-7:
6 For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
7 The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.

Ezekiel 5:5:
5 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: This is Jerusalem, which I have set in the center of the nations, with countries all around her.

The fig tree became a test for Adam and Eve to submit to God's instruction in order to live in a pure relationship with God or, on the other hand, to oppose His instruction and be removed from the immediate nearness of God.

This explanation clearly shows that God challenges us, mankind, as we have to decide whether we are for His chosen people (note: Israel) or against them.

Nathanael's Spiritual Understanding

Looking at the place where Nathanael sat beneath the fig tree, his name and his position as the fourth disciple called by Jesus, we can see that he functioned in his spiritual position of authority and that he had a spiritual understanding of Israel's position and her capital Jerusalem.

In the book of Judges for instance it was Deborah, the judge and prophetess, who also sat beneath a tree and dispensed justice in Israel (see Judges 4:4-5).

Judges 4:4-5:
4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.
5 She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went up to her to have their disputes decided.

As God is spirit and as Nathanael's identity means “given by God“, we recognize that Nathanael knew his place of authority in the spirit (see John 4:24a).

John 4:24a:
24a God is spirit, …

Nathanael had a territorial understanding of the position of regions or cities in the spiritual realm. We can see this when we look at the answer he gave Philip by telling him that normally nothing good can be expected from Nazareth, because its inhabitants had only little faith for the Messiah, as was confirmed later (see John 1:45-46 i.c.w. Matthew 13:58).

John 1:45-46:
45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.

Matthew 13:58:
58 And he (note: Jesus) did not do many miracles there (note: Nazareth) because of their lack of faith.
Nathanael had a humble, devout heart and was willing to submit to the instruction of the revelatory truth given to him by Philip despite his knowledge about Nazareth; so Nathanael left his place beneath the fig tree and entered into the presence of the son of God (see John 1:47-48).

John 1:47-48:
47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”
48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

Thus it was no coincidence that Jesus while speaking to Nathanael mentioned the fig tree in connection with calling him a true Israelite, because the fig tree is a symbol for the people of Israel, as I mentioned earlier.

Because Jesus had spoken a word of knowledge, Nathanael sensed the authority of Jesus Christ in the realm of the spirit by acknowledging Jesus as Rabbi (note: complete authority in the word of God), Son of God (note: complete authority in the true relationship with God, the Father) and King of Israel (note: complete governmental authority; see John 1:49).

John 1:49:
49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”

The Authorization to See Even Greater Things

Because of Nathanael's faith and his knowledge, Jesus granted him the right to see greater things which were connected to the exchange of angelic powers in the regions by the presence of Jesus (see John 1:50-51).

John 1:50-51:
50 Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.”
51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”

Looking at John 1:50-51, we see clearly that all believers in Christ who identify themselves with the divine choice of the people of Israel and the knowledge of the Son of God, will begin to see the heavens open and the angels moving up and down in the presence of Jesus. The reason for this we find in Zechariah 2:8b, where it states that Israel holds the position of the apple of God's eye with Jerusalem as its pupil; as Christians coming from the Gentiles, it enables us to view our life and environment with enlightened eyes to advance with confidence into our future with Jesus Christ.

Zechariah 2,8b:
… 8b for whoever touches you (note: Israel) touches the apple of his eye – …

The Significance of the Ascend and Descend of God's Angels

The ascending and descending of the angels of God over Jesus Christ reveal the exchange of angelic powers which is similar to the exchange of angels at the time of Jacob, when he was in a time of transition and received a promise from God (see Genesis 28:12-15).

Genesis 28:12-15:
12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
13 There above it stood the LORD, and he said: “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.
14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.
15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

The ascending and descending of the angels over Jesus Christ is an indication for the high movement of the angels from God's throne room, and they are assigned to carry His secrets in the shape of scrolls in order to reveal them for this time. These secrets can only be received by those who identify themselves with Israel as God's chosen people and are aware of the significance in the realm of the spirit and who have truly submitted to Jesus Christ as head. Moreover, this supernatural ascend and descend is related to the increase in knowledge of the glory of the LORD (see Habakkuk 2:14).

Habakkuk 2:14:
14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

In summary, we learn from the walk of the disciple named Nathanael the principle of spiritual identification, because we need a spiritual as well as a higher perspective, so we can keep our focus on the Almighty in times of aberration and confusion among the nations. Only God's choice, grace and sovereignty as Father creates the movement of the Spirit through the Son in the people of God; this in turn enables the body of Christ to have access to the glory of the LORD according to Isaiah 60. This glory movement gives birth to the true bridal structure of the heavenly Jerusalem (see Isaiah 60:1-2 i.c.w. Revelation 21:2.9-14).

Isaiah 60:1-2:
1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

Revelation 21:2.9-14:
2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. …
9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Amen and Amen.
