The Month of Kislev, a Time to Receive Dreams -Part II of II-

Note: The following message is the second part of a teaching that consists of two parts. It is recommended to read the message chronologically.

The Valley of Vision

As God's people, it is crucial that while moving forward with the prophetic anointing, we do not despise the potential of the valley (note: represents a time of challenge, tough season). As we continue to move forward in the prophetic spirit, from God's perspective a valley becomes a valley of vision. This means that in challenging times we recognize the handwriting of God, who works everything for good (see Isaiah 22:5 i.c.w. Romans 8:28; 2 Kings 3:15-18.20; Jeremiah 18:1-5; Ezekiel 3:22-23; Ezekiel 37:1.4).

Isaiah 22:5:
5 The Lord, the Lord Almighty, has a day of tumult and trampling and terror in the Valley of Vision, a day of battering down walls and of crying out to the mountains.

Romans 8:28:
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who9 have been called according to his purpose.

2 Kings 3:15-18.20:
15 But now bring me a harpist.” While the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came on Elisha
16 and he said, “This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water.
17 For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink.
18 This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands. …
20 The next morning, about the time for offering the sacrifice, there it was – water flowing from the direction of Edom! And the land was filled with water.

Jeremiah 18:1-5:
1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:
2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.”
3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel.
4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me.

Ezekiel 3:22-23:
22 The hand of the Lord was on me there, and he said to me, “Get up and go out to the plain, and there I will speak to you.”
23 So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the Lord was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.

Ezekiel 37:1.4:
1 The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. …
4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!

These biblical passages reveal that God certainly speaks and gives orientation in the high and low phases of our lives.

Visions

In the category of visions belong the following types:
  • spirit flashes: Flashes of spirit belong to the lowest level of visions; they are glimpses of inner images received from the Lord. They usually have a symbolic character and are motionless images.
  • light and strong inner visions: These are moving images that reflect an action of events and can easily be interrupted by distraction.
  • open visions: These are revelations that can be seen with open eyes and that cannot be interrupted by distraction. They can even be received during a period of high concentration (e.g. when driving a car).
Dreams

The prophet Joel prophesied of a time in which the Holy Spirit would move in a powerful way, which, among other things, would lead to the release of dreams (see Joel 2:28-29).

Joel 2:28-29
28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
I am convinced that we are already living in this time and therefore it is important to understand what God says and shows through visions, dreams and signs.

There are some people in the Word of God who have received dreams, like for example:
  • Joseph (see Genesis 37:5)
  • the chief cup bearer and the chief baker of Pharaoh (see Genesis 40:8-9)
  • Nebuchadnezzar (see Daniel 4)
  • Joseph, the husband of Mary (see Matthew 1:20; Matthew 2:13.19-20)
On the basis of these examples it also clarifies that it is not just believers who receive dreams from God, but also people who do not believe in the God of Israel and His son Jesus Christ.

There are three different dream categories, as follows:
  • literal dream: These kinds of dreams are snapshots. They can give an insight into the future and there is no need to interpret them.
  • symbolic dream: These kinds of dreams must be interpreted carefully and often with patience. Furthermore, such dreams should not be interpreted from temporal pressure (note: superficial), but carefully and on the basis of the Word of God.
  • dreams of angels: These dreams are not direct visits from God, but dreams that appear at a high level of revelation (see Genesis 20:3; Genesis 31:24; 1 Kings 3:5ff; Matthew 1:20; Matthew 2:12-13).
In order to receive dreams from God, it is of great importance that your dream field is prepared for the night. Therefore, it is wise to let the day pass in your mind and purify yourself from things that were not good for the eyes by the blood of Jesus.

The following questions should help to get prepared for the upcoming time of rest in order to receive dreams from God.
  1. What has happened today?
  2. Who have I met?
  3. What were some of the different feelings I experienced?
  4. What did I feel proud of?
  5. What else do I wish to change?
  6. Whom would I ask for forgiveness for mistakes I have made?
  7. Whom do I want to forgive?
  8. How do I wish God would forgive me?
  9. Do I have a prayer burden for someone?
  10. What are my hopes for tomorrow?
In all of this it is good to ask God for dreams from His heaven (see Luke 11:9).

Luke 11:9:
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

In order to interpret dreams correctly, it is essential to know the Word of God, by the blood of Jesus to be connected to the Holy Spirit and to live with the Heavenly Father close to His heart.

Trances

Trances are mentioned in the Word of God in 1 Samuel 10:10-12, 1 Samuel 19:24 and Acts 10:9-10, where it is mentioned that King Saul fell into a prophetic trance, and also that the Apostle Peter experienced a divine trance.

1 Samuel 10:10-12:
10 When he (note: Saul) and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined in their prophesying (note: being in a trance).
11 When all those who had formerly known him saw him prophesying with the prophets, they asked each other, “What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”
12 A man who lived there answered, “And who is their father?” So it became a saying: “Is Saul also among the prophets?”

1 Samuel 19:23-24:
23 So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even on him, and he walked along prophesying (note: being in a trance) until he came to Naioth.
24 He stripped off his garments, and he too prophesied in Samuel’s presence. He lay naked all that day and all that night. This is why people say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”

Acts 10:9-10:
9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.
10 He (note: Peter) became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.

In Peter's trance there were various prophetic features bearing revelatory truth. Peter was on the roof; he was hungry and could smell the meal being prepared (see Acts 10:9-10). As he was smelling the meal, he fell into a trance initiated by God (note: If you are in a higher section of a house where cooking takes place on the lower floor, the odor of the meal being cooked rises so that you can smell its aroma.)

God used the circumstances to open Peter and his spirit in order to speak to him. In the spiritual context, the place of the belly is the seat of the spirit (see John 7:38-39a).

John 7:38-39a:
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within (note: the region of the belly) them.”
39a By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him …

Peter was in the house of Simon, the tanner. And it is a tanners job to work with animal skin. From looking at it in the spiritual context, it is also obvious that this was an indication from God that the spirit of God intended to bring the inner man of Peter (note: spirit – Peter, and soul – Simon) into the structure of the new wine skin for that time.

The Three Prophetic Attributes of the Trance of Peter
  1. The roof => representing the place of revelation or for the prophetic overview
  2. The hunger of Peter => representing the desire in order to receive revelation
  3. The flavor of the meal => representing the movement of spiritual revelation
In the trance of Peter, it was important for God to combine this event with the ingestion of food, as He wanted to strengthen the spirit of Peter for the new mission in the future, so that he would have enough courage to act according to God’s will (see Acts 10:10-13).

Acts 10:10-13:
10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds.
13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”

When saints are led into a trance initiated by God, almost all of their personal perception of their environment is clouded or blurred, in order to be completely focused on the events of the trance. In a trance, the recipient is also part of the event. Trances can range from a few seconds to a few hours and are finished by God.

The Three Levels of Prophetic Activity

Whether visions, dreams or trances are involved, the three levels of prophetic activity must be considered and will help us to discern different levels in the prophetic. The first level includes an occasional work of prophetic anointing, where people find themselves having prophetic notions from time to time which can usually be accompanied by insecurity of the persons with prophetic “impressions/dreams”.

The second level involves a frequent and experienced work of prophetic anointing in various forms, mostly accompanied by confirmations, personal studies of the Word, interpretation and a strong desire for more prophetic manifestation.

The third level is prophetic activity with persons called to the office of the prophet and who are confirmed by the Lord in their calling of ministering as prophets, which should be accompanied by an assignment of official character (note: ordination) according to their responsibility.

On this third level, there is much experience and understanding of these levels of prophetic manifestations. Therefore, people operating in this level usually have the capacity for education, training and guidance for the people of God, so that the “hungry” saints can be led deeper into the prophetic anointing (note: this function of teaching should be promoted and coordinated by apostolic leadership in the body of Christ).

Kislev and Strategic Revelations

In order to receive dreams and the strategic revelations in them in the biblical month of Kislev, it is helpful to seek God in prayer and to thank Him for His desire to lead us prophetically.

In dream sequences that require interpretation, it can be helpful to turn to experienced persons who move in dream interpretation and prophecy and request for help in written form.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,
