With regard to the feast of Shavuot and Pentecost, the Lord led me to the scripture from Zachariah 6:1-8, where it is written of the four chariots that came out from between two mountains of bronze.

 

1 I looked up again, and there before me were four chariots coming out from between two mountains – mountains of bronze.

2 The first chariot had red horses, the second black, 3 the third white, and the fourth dappled – all of them powerful.

4 I asked the angel who was speaking to me, “What are these, my lord?”

5 The angel answered me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world.

6 The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the one with the white horses toward the west, and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”

7 When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth. And he said, “Go throughout the earth!” So they went throughout the earth.

8 Then he called to me, “Look, those going toward the north country have given my Spirit rest in the land of the north.”

 

It is no coincidence that Zechariah saw the chariots coming out first and then the horses.

The reason for this is because God first establishes order through His Word (note: eternal truth), to which His spiritual movement is related. Nothing works without His Word and His Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 14:33).

 

33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace – as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.

 

Different horses were harnessed in front of each chariot. The first chariot had red horses (east), the second black (north), the third white (west), and the fourth dappled (south). All of them were powerful.

 

 

According to the Bible passage from Zechariah 6, it becomes clear that the focus by the angel is on the black horses bringing the Spirit of God to the land of the north.

 

=> The north is the region associated with the cooling, cold and darkness caused by the frosty temperatures and the lack of sun. The North speaks to the dark and the hidden.
Job 37:22 reveals the north as the dwelling place of Almighty God (see Isaiah 14:13).
Mount Zion is set in the north as the city of the great king, who is the Lord Jesus Christ (see Psalm 48:2). <= (Partial excerpt from the “Prophet`s Dictionary” by Paula A. Price, Ph. D.; page 361)
 

The wind of the north carries the revelation of God of encouragement and refreshment (see Genesis 3:8a; 1 Corinthians 14:3). When the north wind comes (note: awakening), the south wind (acceleration) follows at a short distance, as we can read in Acts 2:1-3 (see Song of Songs 4:16).

 

 

In order to see the vision with the chariots and the horses, the prophet Zechariah had to look up.

The looking up of the prophet means being ready with divine confidence/faith to see the new things God is doing in this time (note: season).

 

The name “Zechariah” means “YAHWE remembers.”

 

When God remembers, it leads to the answering of His promises because He is watching over His word (see Jeremiah 1:12).

 

12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”

 

The answering of His promises is going hand in hand with supernatural manifestation.

 

The process of the supernatural watching over His word is accompanied by the movement of His horses, harnessed to the four chariots that together form the four winds of heaven.

 

 

According to the vision that Zechariah saw, the four chariots with their harnessed horses were the four winds of heaven standing before the presence of God.

 

There is great significance referring to this alignment of the four winds of heaven which were not only horses, but four chariots in front of which the horses were harnessed and the prophet first saw the chariots coming out between the mountains of bronze.

 

We know, that the fullness of the Word of God consists of the Tenakh and the New Testament, both calling for intimacy with God and emphasizing the importance of repentance and forgiveness. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the four chariots moved through two bronze mountains.

 

The horizontal movement of the four chariots and the geographical position of the mountains (note: vertical) point to the mystery of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. The reason is because bronze refers to the ministry of forgiveness and repentance. The altar of burnt offering in the front court was decorated with bronze/copper (see Exodus 27:1-6).

 

1 “Build an altar of acacia wood, three cubits high; it is to be square, five cubits long and five cubits wide.

2 Make a horn at each of the four corners, so that the horns and the altar are of one piece, and overlay the altar with bronze.

3 Make all its utensils of bronze – its pots to remove the ashes, and its shovels, sprinkling bowls, meat forks and firepans.

4 Make a grating for it, a bronze network, and make a bronze ring at each of the four corners of the network.

5 Put it under the ledge of the altar so that it is halfway up the altar.

6 Make poles of acacia wood for the altar and overlay them with bronze.

 

Before entering the sanctuary, the priests had washed their hands in the bronze or copper basin. Bronze/Copper also represents a humble attitude of heart (see Exodus 38:8).

 

8 They made the bronze basin and its bronze stand from the mirrors of the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

 

 

Studying the alignment of horses and chariots in the Word of God reveals also that they carry the strength of God's watching eyes and draw the boundary line by the power of His written word (note: eternal truth) between the natural and supernatural realm (see 2 Chronicles 16:9a; Zechariah 4:10b).

 

9a For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth …

 

… 10b since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth …

 

They are destined to manifest God's promised Word (note: eternal truth => written word of God) at His appointed time which is accompanied by the revelatory truth for this time (note: fire and wind).

 

God's boundary line (note: word of God => eternal truth) goes hand in hand with His supernatural fiery presence (see Exodus 19:10-12.16.18 i.c.w. Jeremiah 23:29).

 

10 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes 11 and be ready by the third day, because on that day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.

12 Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, ‘Be careful that you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain is to be put to death. …

16 On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. …

18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently.

 

29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

 

 

When the presence of the eternal word of God/truth from the supernatural realm is aligned with the presence of the revelatory truth in the natural realm, it is inevitable that a saint enters a higher spiritual realm.

 

This becomes clear through the ascending of Elijah to heaven.

 

As the Word of God says that before Elijah (note: representing the fatherhood) was received into heaven, he had went ahead with Elisha (note: representing the sonship) talking with each other. Their common movement and common conversation point to the spirit-filled walk in the center of the cross of Jesus Christ, who is the way to the Father (see 2 Kings 2:11-12 i.c.w. John 14:6).

 

11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

12 Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.

 

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

 

That is why I consider it no coincidence that Elisha called Elijah several times 'Father' while Elijah was taken up by the whirlwind and accompanied by the fire of God reflecting the cross of Jesus Christ.

 

I call it in this context “the cross of the Spirit” because it was established out of the horizontal move of the fiery horses with the fiery chariot and the vertical whirlwind.

 

At this moment the divine presence of eternity (note: fiery horses with the fiery chariot) came into contact with the divine presence of the temporary time as the temporary time by the prophet Elijah carried the required measure of revelatory truth represented by the whirlwind.

 

 

At the feast time of Shavuot/Pentecost it were as well the attributes of wind and fire that pointed to the new time in accordance to God's plan – the time of the Holy Spirit. The coming of the Holy Spirit had been previously promised by Jesus Christ in agreement with His Father.

 

1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

 

It is the Holy Spirit in whom we recognize our position in the sonship of Jesus Christ in order to call upon our Heavenly Father, who is the God of Israel (see Romans 8:14-16).

 

14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children (note: sons) of God.

15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children (note: sons).

 

From this it becomes clear that saints in a humble (note: repentant) attitude of walking in the Spirit as “sons of God” and in increasing maturity, focused on faith (note: firm confidence, trust) can suddenly find themselves enhanced in a temporary circumstance, which is accompanied by a deeper revelation of heaven and worked by grace.
