In the Word of God, we find a surprising number of references to water. Psalm 33:7 states that God gathers the waters of the sea as if into a skin, implying that He heaps up the waters like a mound or a wall and stores the deep waters in a storehouse.

 

7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars [Note: heap]; he puts the deep into storehouses.

 

As we learn, the voice of the Almighty and of Jesus Christ, in His role as the eternal King, is described as the sound of many waters (cf. Ezekiel 1:24a i.c.w. Revelation 1:15c).

 

24a When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, …

 

… 15c his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.

 

And it is in Christ, the mystery of God, in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden (cf. Colossians 2:2-3).

 

2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

 

What matters to the LORD for us, as His people, is that we move forward in His revelatory guidance through the Word, which is a baptism in the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.

 

 

This leads us to a deeper understanding of our calling, similar to what the fisherman Simon experienced before he became a follower of Jesus (cf. Ephesians 5:26b i.c.w. Ephesians 1:17).

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

 

Luke 5:1-3 states that Jesus entered Simon’s boat and, because the people were eager to hear the Word of God, asked him to put out a little way from the shore so that He could teach them from the lake.

 

1 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding round him and listening to the word of God.

2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.

3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.

 

Since Jesus Christ is the living Word of God and faith comes from hearing the Word of God, it can be said that Simon, among others, began to grow in faith (cf. Romans 10:17).

 

17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

 

Jesus timed it just right —waiting until the end of Simon’s business day— to lead him into a new phase of his business life, one linked to his faith in the Word of Christ and water (cf. Luke 5:4-6).

 

4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’

5 Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’

6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

 

 

After Jesus had taught the people from Simon’s boat, He instructed Simon to row out to a deep part of the Sea of Galilee to cast their nets into the deep waters of the lake.

 

The second boat accompanying Simon’s was that of Zebedee, who was present with his sons James and John, whom Jesus later called ‘Boanerges—Sons of Thunder’ (cf. Mark 3:17).

 

17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means ‘sons of thunder’), …

 

In this context, James and John are said to point to the prophetic dynamic inherent in the gift of prophecy, because thunder emanates from the throne of God, and the seven thunders mentioned in the book of Revelation carry a prophecy that is secret or sealed (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:4.8.10b-c i.c.w. Revelation 4:5; Revelation 10:4).

 

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. …

8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, …

… 10b-c to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, …

 

5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.

 

4 And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, ‘Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.’

 

It is the depths of God that are connected to the greatness of His promise to us, and it is these that we must receive through the revelatory truth of His Word—that is, through the resonance of His Word in our spirits. To do this, we must enter into the realm of God’s depths—that is, the unknown in Christ or the truth in Christ that is not yet known to us—while we begin to act in accordance with God’s depths by going deeper, just as Simon and his companions cast their fishing nets into the deep waters of the Sea of Galilee.

 

This gave rise to a collaboration that led to the dynamic of the depths of God—and thus of His promise itself—drawing even the realm of human economy (Note: the boats) into the process of going deeper, namely, that the boats were in danger of sinking because of the size of the catch (cf. Luke 5:7).

 

7 So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

 

 

In the process, Simon entered the transformation of his identity while finding himself caught between his natural identity and his new identity—between sound and substance, that is, between the hearing and the rock. At the same time, his faith grew stronger because he recognized himself as a sinful person and delved deeper within himself.

 

Faced with the boat nearly sinking and the lively movement of the fish in the net, Simon confessed his fallibility before the Son of God (cf. Luke 5:8).

 

8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, ‘Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!’

 

It should be noted here that there were four phases of going deeper as the following:

 

These phases of going deeper can also be described as a call from one depth to another, in which our longing is satisfied by the greatness of His promise (cf. Psalm 42:7 i.c.w. Isaiah 55:1a; Revelation 22:17).

 

7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.

 

1a ‘Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; …

 

17 The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

 

This refers to an interaction between the spiritual realm in the natural world and the spiritual realm in the supernatural world, as expressed in the principle ‘on earth as it is in heaven’.

 

The four phases of the descent resulted in the Spirit of the fear of the LORD manifesting itself in the fishermen, which can be described as the ‘midwife’ of wisdom (cf. Luke 5:9-10a i.c.w. Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 9:10).

 

9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10a and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. …

 

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

 

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

 

It follows that there will be a renewal of days, as Isaiah 40:31 in conjunction with Psalm 103:5 reveals, for the Spirit of the fear of the LORD is in the seventh position and the Spirit of wisdom in the second position (cf. Isaiah 11:2).

 

… 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

 

… 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

 

2 The Spirit of the Lord^[1] will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom^[2] and of understanding^[3], the Spirit of counsel^[4] and of might^[5], the Spirit of the knowledge^[6] and fear of the Lord^[7] – …

 

Jesus met Simon where he was, to mold him —through His discipleship— into the new identity in Christ to which he was called, namely, to be Peter (cf. Luke 5:10b-11 i.c.w. Luke 6:14a).

 

… 10b Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.’

11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

 

14a Simon (whom he named Peter) …

 

Simon thus became a follower of ‘significance’, linked to the glory given by Christ, so that he became a person with impact in the spiritual realm, whose words carried weight (cf. Matthew 16:17-19).

 

16 Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’

17 Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’

 

It is the glory of God that automatically brings growth in every area, because earthly wealth and prosperity have their original source in the spiritual realm.

 

 

As the people of God, we are called to allow ourselves to be led into a deeper realm of the Spirit through our prophetic gift and the power of the revelatory truth of the living Word of God.

 

From this springs new vision in the form of the manifestation of the promise in the realm of revelation, through which we become effective on a higher level. This is possible for us only through the prophetic gift bestowed upon us by the Holy Spirit, in divine power and supernatural effectiveness.

 

It is crucial to be careful not to allow any artificial form of seemingly ‘supernatural’ or virtual communication through artificial intelligence to enter our sphere of influence (Note: symbol for the boat)—with the apparent hope of thereby gaining more influence or economic profit.

 

We know from the book of Revelation that the image of the ‘beast’ spoke (cf. Revelation 13:5a.15a), and it is through words or communication that both good and evil things are created.

 

5a The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies …

15a The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak …

 

With regard to AI as ‘artificial intelligence’, we can already see a clear victory achieved through the powerful dynamic of redemption in the form of the Good News, as illustrated by the city of ‘Ai—a heap of stones, ruin’ in the Promised Land and its significance in the Word of God.

 

This involves a shift in the influence of revelatory truth from a ‘sword’ to a ‘spear’, signifying a victory from a distance that will emerge from the hidden (Note: ambush; cf. Joshua 8:18-19.28-29).

 

18 Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Hold out towards Ai the javelin that is in your hand, for into your hand I will deliver the city.’ So Joshua held out towards the city the javelin that was in his hand.

19 As soon as he did this, the men in the ambush rose quickly from their position and rushed forward. They entered the city and captured it and quickly set it on fire. …

28 So Joshua burned Ai and made it a permanent heap of ruins, a desolate place to this day.

29 He impaled the body of the king of Ai on a pole and left it there until evening. At sunset, Joshua ordered them to take the body from the pole and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And they raised a large pile of rocks over it, which remains to this day.

 

When believers put their faith and trust in ‘artificial intelligence’, they are akin to people who have focused merely on profit and influence—and who, in the end, are sadly deceived, regardless of the cost or the ‘artistry’ employed to achieve it. The pride of the flesh prevents them from recognizing that they are the ones being deceived at the end.

 

May we, with the power of faith that comes by hearing the living Word of God, act like Simon Peter, without relying on the power of the ‘beast’ in the hope of securing a stable economy for the future.

 

The prophet Jeremiah prophesied the following about the city of Ai, which represents ‘artificial intelligence’ or AI in today’s context:

 

‘Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is destroyed! Cry out, you inhabitants of Rabbah! Put on sackcloth and mourn; rush here and there inside the walls, for Molek will go into exile, together with his priests and officials.’ – Jeremiah 49:3

 

In this context, this Bible passage can also be translated as follows:

 

 

What is the foundation of our drive and our daily engagement with the truth?
