The Dimension of the Menorah

On the basis of Jesus’ statement from John 16:13-15, which He made in relation to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of truth and spoke of the Holy Spirit glorifying Him and taking from Him, the Lord gave me an insight into the revelation of the menorah, the seven-branched lampstand, in order to share.

John 16:13-15:
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.’

As we know, the menorah is made of pure gold and is shaped like an almond tree, with three arms extending from the shaft in the middle to the right and three arms to the left (cf. Exodus 25:31-40).

Exodus 25:31-40:
31 ‘Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them.
32 Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand – three on one side and three on the other.
33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand.
34 And on the lampstand there are to be four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms.
35 One bud shall be under the first pair of branches extending from the lampstand, a second bud under the second pair, and a third bud under the third pair – six branches in all.
36 The buds and branches shall all be of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.
37 ‘Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it.
38 Its wick trimmers and trays are to be of pure gold.
39 A talent of pure gold is to be used for the lampstand and all these accessories.
40 See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.

Commissioned to Shine as Light

As saints, we are commissioned by Jesus Christ to shine as light in the world without being hidden by letting our light shine forth in the form of revelatory truth, like the menorah.

In a spiritual context, the light of the menorah shining forward can point to the guiding Word, whose revelatory truth leads us to confidently walk our path of righteousness with Christ Jesus (cf. Matthew 5:14-16 i.c.w. Numbers 8:1-2, Psalm 119:105).

Matthew 5:14-16:
14 ‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Numbers 8:1-2:
1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 ‘Speak to Aaron and say to him, “When you set up the lamps, see that all seven light up the area in front of the lampstand.” ’

Psalm 119:105:
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

The fact that God ordered the menorah to be made of pure gold shows us that it bears the attributes of the almond tree, which is highly significant. The almond tree is associated with God’s watchful nature over His word, as He revealed it to the prophet Jeremiah (cf. Exodus 25:31.33 i.c.w. Jeremiah 1:11-12).

Exodus 25:31.33:
31 ‘Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them. …
33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand.

Jeremiah 1:11-12:
11 The word of the Lord came to me: ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’ ‘I see the branch of an almond tree,’ I replied. [Note: The Hebrew word for ‘almond tree’ is ‘šāqēd’ and is like the Hebrew word ‘šāqad’, which means ‘to be watchful’.]
12 The Lord said to me, ‘You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.’

The seven-branched lampstand was made in such a way that, as previously mentioned, a shaft was first created in the middle, from which three arms branched off on the right as well as on the left side, so that the lampstand had seven cups like almond blossoms, on which seven lamps were placed to shine forward (cf. Exodus 25:31-33.36-37).

Exodus 25:31-33.36-37:
31 ‘Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them.
32 Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand – three on one side and three on the other.
33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand. …
36 The buds and branches shall all be of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.
37 ‘Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it.

At God’s instruction, the menorah was positioned on the south side to shine forward in the Holy Place, in this case towards the north, where the table of shewbread stood, on which the twelve shewbreads, also known as the bread of His face, were placed (cf. Exodus 26:35).

Exodus 26:35:
35 Place the table outside the curtain on the north side of the tabernacle and put the lampstand opposite it on the south side.

For us, this means that this is God’s will for us, that we internalize Him in the form of the Bread of Life, which is Jesus Christ, comprising, among other things, the apostolic teaching, as the light of the menorah shone on the twelve layers of the shewbread to have our spiritual hunger satisfied (cf. John 6:35).

John 6:35:
35 Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. …’

The Value System Transmitted by God in Written Form

Since God chose Israel as the firstborn nation and revealed His value system in written form to Moses on Mount Horeb, the Hebrew spelling, which runs from right to left, is significant (cf. Exodus 31:18).

Exodus 31:18:
18 When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.

In the context of Jesus’ statement that the Holy Spirit takes from Him, I saw the Hebrew name for Jesus, which is יֵשׁוּעַ – Yeshua’. Above each outgoing ‘branch’ of the Hebrew letters of His name, I saw a flame on the tips of each letter, so that there were seven flames. This reminded me of the shape of the golden menorah with its seven burning lamps.

I realized that the middle lamp, described by the structure of the menorah, was located in the leftmost area of the Hebrew letter ש – Shin’ and bore a red flame of fire. Starting from this, an orange flame could be seen on the Hebrew letter י – Yod’, a yellow flame on the rightmost ‘branch’ and a green flame on the middle ‘branch’ of the Hebrew letter “ש - Shin”. A light blue flame could be seen on the Hebrew letter ו – Waw’.  There was a dark blue flame on the rightmost ‘branch’ of the Hebrew letter ע – Ayin’ and the outer left branch of it had a purple flame.

The Colors of The Seven Spirits of God

God is Spirit according to John 4:24 and He is the God of covenant, and His seven Spirits are present before His throne and are as well part in the Lamb of God (cf. Isaiah 11:2 i.c.w. Revelation 4:5; Revelation 5:6).

The rainbow as a sign of God’s covenant consists of seven colors (Note: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, indigo, purple; cf. Genesis 9:8-17) and these seven colors can be assigned to the Seven Spirits of God.

John 4:24:
“… 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Isaiah 11:2:
2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him –  the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord – …

Revelation 4:5:
5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.

Revelation 5:6:
6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

Based on the above-mentioned explanation, the Seven Spirits of God are assigned to the colors of the rainbow as the following.

  1. Spirit of the Lord => Red
  2. Spirit of Wisdom => Orange
  3. Spirit of Understanding => Yellow
  4. Spirit of Counsel => Green
  5. Spirit of Might => Light Blue
  6. Spirit of Knowledge => Indigo/Dark Blue
  7. Spirit of the Fear of the Lord => Purple
Within the seven Spirits of God in the form of the burning torches or flames, we can recognize the principle that encompasses the level of God as ‘Elohim’ in the form of the Trinity (Note: ‘ש – Shin’) of His uniqueness as Father and His given love through Jesus Christ (Note: ‘י – Jod’, ‘ו – Waw’) as well as the sphere of togetherness in the form of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation (Note: ‘ע – Ayin’).

It is the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of truth who takes the truth from this realm of knowledge in יֵשׁוּעַ – Yeshua and opens it up to us as His people.

Jesus in the Synagogue of Nazareth and the Spirit of the Lord

When Jesus took the scroll of the prophet Isaiah in the synagogue of Nazareth (Note: means ‘young shoot that will watch’) and read a part of Isaiah 61 aloud to the assembled people, He spoke of the Spirit of the LORD resting on Him.

With this statement, Jesus revealed that He fully embodied the mandate and the maturity that He received from the instructive training of the Spirit of the LORD before the people at that time and that the influence of the seven Spirits of God flowed through Him in their fullness (cf. Luke 4:18-21 i.c.w. Revelation 5:6; John 7:38-39a).

Luke 4:18-21:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Revelation 5:6:
6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

John 7:38-39a:
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
39a By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. …

It was therefore no coincidence that Jesus Christ was in Nazareth at the time of His statement that ‘the Spirit of the LORD is upon him’, which means ‘young rice that will watch’, indicating that the region bore the Word of the LORD from Isaiah 11:1-2, which is about the sprout as well as the Spirit of the LORD and the seven Spirits of God.

Isaiah 11:1-2:
1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord – …

The Seven Spirits of God and The Lord’s Government

The Spirit of the Lord forms the center of the Seven Spirits of God and in this connection, it is about spiritual government. It means that Jesus Christ fully embodied the government of God to which the Seven Spirits of God belong. The seven Spirits of God are before the throne or originate from it.

The seven Spirits of God follow the LORD’s instructions and teach us about His Kingdom, will and purpose so that we may properly represent them on earth.

The seven Spirits of God are sent into all the earth according to Revelation 5:6. The reason why they are sent out is because the seven Spirits of God are looking for those who are ready to be trained as sons of God.

They are the eyes of the Lamb of God, moving back and forth all over the earth in search of those who are living as sons of God (cf. 2 Chronicles 16:9a i.c.w. Zechariah 4:10b).

2 Chronicles 16:9a:
9a For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. …

Zechariah 4:10b:
...10b since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth …

When God sends something from His throne, it is always with a purpose, a mandate and with authority to carry out the divine mandate. The mandate of the seven Spirits of God is to empower us to establish the Kingdom of Heaven and to embody it as heirs of God before the people who need Him on earth.

It is the Holy Spirit taking from the spiritual realm of salvation of the ‘I AM – YAHWEH’, revealing the depth dimensions of Yeshua and His identity. Herein lie hidden many levels of revelation for those who thirst and search for the revelatory truth (cf. Matthew 7:7 i.c.w. Colossians 2:2-3).

Matthew 7:7:
7 ‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Colossians 2:2-3:
2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Accordingly, Jesus’ statement that the Holy Spirit takes from Him is a clear indication for us in a closer look at the Hebrew letters of the name for Jesus, ‘יֵשׁוּעַ Yeshua’, that the fullness of God’s revelatory power is present and invites us in Christ to receive from Him in order to share it with others.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,
