The Entry of the Lion of Judah and the Listening

As people of God, we move within the structure of the kingdom. The Hebrew word used for ‘kingdom’ is ‘mamlākāh’ and begins twice with the Hebrew letter ‘Mem’, which is connected to ‘water’, among other things, and has the numerical value ‘40’.

The Hebrew word for ‘water’ used in the Word of God is ‘Majim’ and is used exclusively in the plural form. It begins with the Hebrew letter ‘Mem’ and ends with it. (Note: Part excerpt from the Elberfelder Study Bible on the word ‘mamlākāh – kingdom’ with the word key number 4542)

In this context, I was led to the Bible passage from Luke 10:38-40, where Jesus was in transition with His disciples and went to a certain village to the house of Martha.

Jesus Christ in the House of Martha and Mary

In that house of Martha was also her sister Mary staying at the time, when Jesus met her.

Luke 10:38-40:
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.
39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.
40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’

The name ‘Mary’ is of Hebrew origin and is originally ‘Miriam – מִרְיָם, which means ‘bitterness, fatness’. The name has the numerical value 260.

The name ‘Martha – מרתא is of Aramaic origin and means ‘mistress’. Her name has the numerical value 641.

The name of Mary or Miriam show that it is needed for us as believers in Christ to go forward with a humble heart through all of our experiences we have made, which is indicated by the numerical value and the meaning of her first name.

The meaning of the name ‘Martha – mistress’ and the numerical value of her first name in the sum of 641 point to a high spiritual potential, which, however, must be administered correctly. An inappropriate zeal and existing arrogance point to the unnecessary danger of losing the right focus in the end. We can learn here not to miss the moment of the essential teaching of the Word of God.

Both first names begin with the Hebrew letter ‘Mem’, which is associated with ‘moving water’. It is striking that the Hebrew name ‘Mirjam’ and the Hebrew word for ‘water – Majim’ have a ‘Mem’ at the beginning and at the end. In the name ‘Mirjam’, the ‘Mem’ is written open at the beginning and closed at the end.

This indicates a willingness to be open to true spiritual fellowship and to protect this resulting spiritual quality in the form of relationship.
The way of the kingdom demands that we are active at the right time, much like Martha was, by opening the door to the apostolic presence of Christ. This presence is like the presence of the lion who wants to settle down and teach us according to the will of the Heavenly Father. However, it is also crucial that we, like Mary did, sit down before the Lord and come to rest.

It says in Luke 10:38 that Jesus was traveling with His disciples and went to Martha’s house, where Mary was also present. Jesus’ disciples were twelve people who followed Him and learned from Him. It can therefore be assumed that Jesus entered Martha’s house with His twelve disciples. In a spiritual context in our time, their entry can represent revelation in the form of apostolic strategy for the ecclesia.

Since Jesus was on the road with His twelve disciples, whom He also called apostles (cf. Luke 6:13), as well as speaking of the eye in the form of the light of the body and we see with the eyes, the power of revelation in the form of apostolic strategy can be recognized in this (cf. Luke 11:34a).

Luke 6:13:
13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: …

Luke 11:34a:
34a Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, …

Jesus and His accompanying twelve disciples add up to ‘13’ persons. The number ‘13’ can also represent the principle of the ecclesia, as Jacob had 12 sons and one daughter (Note: Dinah; cf. Genesis 30:21). Thus they were thirteen children mentioned.

Genesis 30:21:
21 Some time later she (Note: Leah) gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.

After Jesus was crucified and Judas committed suicide, Matthias was added to the apostles by lot, so that there were also 13 in total.

Acts 1:26:
26 Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

The Listening of Mary

While Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, He spoke or taught about an important topic, which we can assume was about the power of prayer.

The reason for this is that after the encounter with Mary, Jesus taught His disciples how to pray using the guideline of what was later called the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ (cf. Luke 11:1-4).

Luke 11:1-4:
1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.’
2 He said to them, ‘When you pray, say: ‘ “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation. ” ’

This teaching to Mary carried great importance for the future, as the death and resurrection of Lazarus was still to come, in which the intercession or power of prayer of a righteous one played an important role (cf. James 5:16b).

James 5:16b:
…16b The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

The Gaze of Jesus and His Twelve Disciples

It can be assumed that while Jesus was teaching Mary, His eyes and those of the twelve apostles were focused on Mary so that she was enveloped in the light of the Son of God in an apostolic character, which was a total of 26 eyes.

The number ‘26’ is the numerical value of the name of God as the ‘I AM – YAHWEH’ (Note: יְהֹוָה => Jod – 10, He – 5, Waw – 6, He – 5). It is no coincidence that the name Mirjam, as already mentioned, has the numerical value 260 (10 x 26), which points to the value system of the Father and His presence. Because Mary chose to listen to Jesus at the right moment, she was enveloped by the apostolic presence of the Heavenly Father. She began to see in His light the light in terms of revelation she needed (cf. Psalm 36:9).

Psalm 36:9:
9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

Let us be active in the right moment toward the presence of God, like Martha, to welcome a greater dynamic and authority of His being into our personal environment, so that together with His being we come to rest and settle where He settles. The purpose of this is to give us the apostolic strategy we need for the future.

When the Lion of Judah settles down and speaks, the result is that the fear of the LORD intensifies, and saints move into the structure of the prophets to speak what is in the realm of the Spirit over the particular region (cf. Genesis 49:9 i.c.w. Amos 3:7-8).

Genesis 49:9:
9 You are a lion’s cub, Judah; you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness – who dares to rouse him?

Amos 3:7-8:
7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.
8 The lion has roared – who will not fear? The Sovereign Lord has spoken – who can but prophesy?

Thus we have the privilege that the Holy Spirit can guide us with our humble and teachable hearts so that we are not passive at the wrong time and receive the instruction of our Counsellor in time.

The lives of others will be blessed and even preserved to give praise to God. He is worthy!

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,
