As God’s people, we are in a new harvest phase (note: barley harvest, wheat begins to ripen), which relates to the meaning of the sheaf (note: Omer) of the first fruits. Each harvest phase is usually accompanied by a spiritual battle because the adversary wants to prevent growth within the Kingdom of God. Because of this, I would like to examine the spiritual battle in the time of Joshua when he fought with the people of Israel against the Amorites.

This was the battle in which the sun and moon stood still at the word of Joshua, helping them to triumph against the Amorites (cf. Joshua 10:12-13).

Joshua 10:12-13:
12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: ‘Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.’
13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.

The Book of Jashar and the Harvest Phase

This battle is written in the book of ‘Jashar’, which means ‘straight, complete, sincere, righteous, honest’. The book just mentioned points us to a harvest phase, since the harvest is related to completeness and concludes the cycle of sowing and growing, as well as revealing the result of it.

The harvest of Joshua and the people of Israel was related to the victory over the Amorites, who are also called ‘those who dwell in the mountains’. This means for us in today’s time that this harvest is a harvest of influential personalities, because mountains or high places in the Word of God are connected with an influential position.

Therefore, it was not a coincidence that the sun (note: which is in a higher position than the moon in the sky) shone on ‘Gibeon’, which means ‘hilly, hill city’, and the moon shone on ‘the lowland of the deerfield’, which is the name of ‘Ajalon’.

We know that the sun is ordained by God to rule the day, and the moon to rule the night, and the stars together with them are signs in the heavens (cf. Genesis 1:14-19), and this reveals a speaking of God for us at this time can be inferred from the situation of the battle at the time of Joshua.

Genesis 1:14-19:
14 And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.’ And it was so.
16 God made two great lights – the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 And there was evening, and there was morning – the fourth day.

Sun, Moon and Stars and the Three Levels of Revelation

The cycle of the sun marks the time of the day, where the cycle of the moon marks the time of the month, and the yearly rotation of the constellations in the sky marks the seasons of the year as spring, summer, autumn and winter. This means that the position of the sun indicates the exact hour of the day and the cycle of the moon indicates the phase of the month.
If we apply this knowledge to the region of Gibeon and Ajalon, it shows that the sun with its higher position in contrast to the moon, shone on the higher place, Gibeon on the earth and the moon shone on the lower place, the valley Ajalon.

With this constellation of the sun and the moon, a total of three levels of revelation are revealed to us, with the third level containing the spiritual battle mentioned before:

  1. the level of the spirit (note: Gibeon) and the soul (note: valley of Ajalon),
  2. the level of the bridal structure (note: the love or covenant relationship with Jesus, our bridegroom) and the structure of the body of Christ on earth (note: governmental authority on earth),
  3. the spiritual battle of the body of Christ with the heart of the bride against the ‘Amorites’.

Before we can fight the spiritual war, based on the third level described, the requirement is that we walk as God’s people in the first and second levels. It is so important that our soul (note: will, emotions and mind) walks in harmony with our spirit and is submitted to it, so that we are able to show the will of the Heavenly Father, which the Holy Spirit reveals to our spirit, on earth through our deeds.

The valley of Ajalon carries the revelation about our personal position as sons of God as our spiritual authority in Christ, but also the position of the Ekklēsia – Church as united body of Christ on earth.

The Appointed Hour of God and the Time of Glory

The position of the sun and moon in Joshua 10:12-13 reveals to us that God has appointed a definite hour in His eternity, bringing forth the visitation of His glory in the earthly realm and encompassing a continual time of His special presence on earth, since the sun is associated with the day and the moon carries within it the alliance of days and weeks.

This is equivalent to the saying in 2 Peter 3:8, where it is said:

‘But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.’

The hour of glory is born out of our close love relationship in the Holy Spirit with Jesus Christ as our Bridegroom and God as our Heavenly Father, which results in every saint having a deep longing for more of God in his heart and a firm confidence of restoration (cf. Psalm 42:1-2 i.c.w. Isaiah 42:3).

Psalm 42:1-2:
1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Isaiah 42:3:
3 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; …

The Valley of Ajalon – the Deerfield

The reason for the desire and the confidence for the restoration is hidden in the fact that the valley Ajalon relates to the deer.

The deer is associated with the soul’s desire for more of God, and the Hebrew word ‘desire’ is the word ‘ḥāmaḏ’ and means ‘to lust, to find pleasure, to be red by inflammation => (as the deer’s fur gleams reddish’).’ (note: The word explanation of the Hebrew word ‘desire – ḥāmaḏ’ is taken in part from the Elberfelder Study with word key number: 2592.)

When we move in this passionate love desire of the LORD, we as God’s people are able to victoriously fight like Joshua the spiritual warfare that is not against flesh and blood. This means that our prayers are fearless and powerful that cause influential figures (note : ‘Amorites’ => ‘those who dwell in the mountains’), who now still move in darkness, come into contact with the breath of God and help prepare the way for the glory of Jesus at this time, much like the straw that lay in the manger at the time of Jesus’ birth in order to receive Him.

The Third Level of Revelation and the Battle Against the Giants

The third level includes the fight that is prayerfully contested through love for the Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, so that the giants, like Goliath in David’s time, will fall.

This fight is directed against the ‘Nephilim’ (note: It is the Hebrew word for ‘giants, titans, heroes, magnates.’), as they are called in Genesis 6:4 i.c.w. Luke 17:26.

Genesis 6:4:
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days – and also afterwards – when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

Luke 17:26:
26 ‘Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. …’

The so-called giants are not in the literal sense tall people or a brood due to the earthly intermingling of demons with humans, but they are an agenda of darkness that carries a united, loud voice (note: such as the public advancement of homosexuality into society, transhumanism, …) to destroy the righteousness, standard and purity of God on earth as well as to blaspheme the God of Israel and intimidate the saints.

Thus, the ‘giants’ can be considered as the implemented ‘plans/thoughts’ from the demonic world (note: fallen angels), to which the influential personalities as a symbol of the daughters of men (note: men and women => since the woman conceives the fruit and carries it until birth) have given themselves in order to establish them in the visible world. For this they take all medial aids to the hand, in order to exert ever more unjust influence on mankind.

When the word of God speaks of the ‘sons of God’ in this context, these are not of divine nature, but are under the rule of demons. This demonic influence causes these people to enjoy great prestige among other people and thus have greater influence over women, as well as companies to seduce or abuse them for the satisfaction of their lower instincts for their plans and purposes.

Because of this great demonic infiltration, children born of these marriages or contracts have ‘hero status’ (note: ‘famous men’). Since they are made of ‘flesh’, they too will die according to the curse, like all members of the human race. When God judges the world -and He will do so in His time- no giant, no deity, and no human being can oppose Him with any power. God sovereignly determines the days of each individual as they are ‘numbered’.

Furthermore, the Nephilim are the product of a demonic mindset such as transhumanism that is allowed onto the earth because of the wickedness of the earth’s inhabitants, so that the relevant people are given over to their shameful desires or are currently ruled by the so-called transhumanists (cf. Romans 1:18-32).

The Power of True Intercession

But thanks be to God, who makes it clear to us by means of the example of David, who fought against the giant Goliath, that through the power of true intercession, which is comparable to a sling, the agenda of darkness is brought down, and the harvest is gathered.
Intercession contributes to the shaking in heaven and on earth by the glory of God (cf. Haggai 2:6-9 i.c.w. 1 Samuel 17:49-51; Revelation 8:3-5).

Haggai 2:6-9:
6 ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
7 I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,” says the Lord Almighty.
8 “The silver is mine and the gold is mine,” declares the Lord Almighty.
9 “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,” says the Lord Almighty. “And in this place I will grant peace,” declares the Lord Almighty.’

1 Samuel 17:49-51:
49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.

Revelation 8:3-5:
3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne.
4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.
5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

Since the hurling of the prayers of the saints is performed by an angel, and angels are winds in the Word of God based on Psalm 104:4 i.c.w. Hebrews 1:7, this means that the LORD destroys the plans infiltrated by darkness by the power of His breath (cf. Isaiah 27:1 i.c.w. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8).

Isaiah 27:1:
1 In that day, the Lord will punish with his sword – his fierce, great and powerful sword – Leviathan the gliding serpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; he will slay the monster of the sea.

2 Thessalonians 2:7-8:
7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming.

The outcome is that unjust systems are dissolved and there is a supernatural division of the harvest by the guidance of the LORD. As a result, the Ekklēsia – Church receives great influence on earth for a certain period of time because Satan has to desist from it, similar to what happened to Jesus when he stayed in the desert for fasting (cf. Luke 4:13).

Luke 4:13:
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

The letting go of the enemy results in the Word of God spreading on earth in greater power (cf. Luke 4:14-15).

Luke 4:14-15:
14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole
countryside.
15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm

After Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared in His resurrected body to His disciples and other saints over a period of forty days (cf. Acts 1:3).

Acts 1:3:
3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

The Visitation of Jesus in a New Way and the Renewing of the Spirit

The Lord wants to meet us in a new way, which relates to an intensification of quality in the spiritual relationship. This is about the encounter with Christ, which brings us into a deeper revelatory knowledge as well as understanding in His Word.

Based on the Word of God, we are told about the following appearances of Christ in His resurrected body, where He met the following persons:

  1. Mary Magdalene (cf. Mark 16:9; John 20:11-17),
  2. the other women – Mary, mother of James, Salome, Joanne (cf. Matthew 28:8-10),
  3. Peter (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:5),
  4. the two Emmaus disciples (cf. Mark 16:12-13; Luke 24:13-32),
  5. the ten apostles in the house in Jerusalem without Thomas (cf. Luke 24:36-43; John 20:19-24),
  6. the eleven apostles including Thomas (cf. John 20:26-29),
  7. the seven disciples at the Tiberian Sea, where Jesus performed a fishing miracle (cf. John 21:1-14),
  8. the five hundred men and the eleven disciples on the Mount of Galilee (cf. Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-18; 1 Corinthians 15:6),
  9. His half-brother James (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:7),
  10. His disciples in Jerusalem (cf. Luke 24:44-49; Acts 1:3-8).

After these supernatural encounters Jesus Christ ascended to heaven before the eyes of His disciples on the Mount of Olives.

It is evident from these ten supernatural encounters that some individuals didn’t recognize Christ even though they accompanied Him for many years and had a personal relationship with Him. This calls us as God’s people to renew our minds and spirits in order to be able to recognize Jesus Christ in our time as He encounters and speaks to us now (cf. Ephesians 4:23-24).

Ephesians 4:23-24:
… 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Through the appearance of Christ in His resurrected body over the period of 40 days on earth, we can discern the following facets of His spiritual presence in His fulfilled triumph:

  1. Bridegroom (Mary saw Jesus as gardener, an expression of the lover from Song of Songs; cf. John 20:14-16 i.c.w. Song of Songs 4:12-16; Song of Songs 5:1; Song of Songs 6:2-3),
  2. Risen one (cf. Matthew 28:9-10),
  3. true Rabbi/teacher (cf. Luke 24:13-32),
  4. the crucified and resurrected One (cf. John 20:19-24),
  5. Giver of faith (cf. John 20:26-29),
  6. Heavenly Father as supernatural provider and as the One, who restores (cf. John 21:5.15-17),
  7. the powerful One and Commander in Chief (cf. Matthew 28:18-20),
  8. the fulfilled Word of God (cf. Luke 24:44-49).

In connection with the previously mentioned manifestations of Christ, the Holy Spirit placed His emphasis on the encounter with His disciples while they were together in a locked room due to fear. There, Jesus stepped right into their midst and revealed Himself to them as, among other things, the risen Lord and true Rabbi.

While they saw Him, they were troubled and afraid because they thought that He was a ghost. This shows that in that moment the disciples couldn’t clearly discern spiritually, because they thought that Jesus was a ghost (cf. Luke 24:36-38).

Luke 24:36-38:
36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’
37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.
38 He said to them, ‘Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?

The Alignment of Knowledge, Wisdom, and Revelation with the Presence of God

Jesus invited His disciples to approach Him, to contemplate Him, and to touch His presence.
When they saw His wounds and were given the opportunity to touch His body, it is said that because of their joy they couldn’t believe it, so Jesus asked them for something to eat. As a result, they handed Him roasted fish and of a honeycomb (cf. Luke 24:39-43).

Luke 24:39-43:
39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.’
40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, ‘Do you have anything here to eat?’
42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish (note: and a honeycomb), 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.

In order to enter into a higher realm of knowledge of the living Word of God, it is essential that we combine the quality of wisdom/knowledge (note: fish) and revelation (note: honey) that we currently have in the Word of God with His presence, in order to accordingly get the Word of God unlocked in a greater and new way through the guidance of the Holy Spirit (cf. Luke 24:44-48).

Luke 24:44-48:
44 He said to them, ‘This is what I told you while I was still with you: everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.’
45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
46 He told them, ‘This is what is written: the Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 You are witnesses of these things.

The Necessity of Sobriety in the Spirit

In all of this, it is important that we not give priority to the ‘ecstatic influence’ of our souls at the times of the LORD’s visitation, even if it feels positive, because it can stop us from properly recognizing Christ Jesus at such times.

This is evident from the joy in the disciples when they saw Jesus as described. It is said that their own ‘ecstasy/delight’ lead to the fact that they couldn’t believe it was Jesus and were amazed (cf. Luke 24:41a).

Luke 24:41a:
41a And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, …

The Word of God encourages us to be sober in spirit because within it the gift of discernment of spirits leads to the right result (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 i.c.w. 1 Peter 4:7).

1 Thessalonians 5:8:
8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

1 Peter 4:7:
7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.

As humans, we tend to evaluate a moment of God’s visitation through our own emotions, resulting in an unhealthy drive of the moment, which can have devastating consequences.
This is illustrated to us, for example, by Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, who entered the presence of God and offered a strange fire to the LORD as an own drive to hasten the glory of God, which wasn’t in God’s will (cf. Leviticus 10:1-2).

Leviticus 10:1-2:
1 Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorised fire before the Lord, contrary to his command.
2 So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.

When the presence of the LORD visits us, it is significant that we are not tempted by our own joy to become exuberant to increase the presence of God in a carnal way. It is not in God’s interest that we put His presence on a new chariot (note: misuse of God’s presence by putting the ministry, the gift ...etc. in the centre and thereby robbing God of His glory). Why not? The reason is only because God is a jealous God, and He doesn’t share His glory with anyone (cf. Isaiah 42:8 i.c.w. 2 Samuel 6:3.6-7).

Isaiah 42:8:
8 ‘I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. …’

2 Samuel 6:3.6-7:
3 They set the ark of God on a new cart and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart …
6 When they came to the threshing-floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled.
7 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God.

Accordingly, it is crucial that we have all our conceptions and impulses strapped with the reins of sobriety of mind and self-control.

=> Furthermore, our joy about God’s visitation shouldn’t be uncontrolled or become unrestrained, because otherwise there is a danger that the work of the LORD, which is holy, will be humanized by our human adding and thus devalued.

This can lead that God isn’t represented properly in front of the people or the people of God. Our devotion to God should always be within the boundaries and expressions set by the LORD. <= (note: The text set in ‘=>’ is based on an insight from the book ‘Keys to the Torah’ by Ludwig Schneider, page 127-128; ISBN: 3-7751-3398-4)

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm

As God’s people, we are in the time frame of the biblical month of Iyar|Siv, which is associated with the tribe of Issachar. The tribe of Issachar is the connector in the first unit of the army of Israel -as there are four units arranged into three tribes each- that connects the tribe of Judah with the tribe of Zebulun (cf. Numbers 2:2-3.5.7.9).

Numbers 2:2-3.5.7.9:
2 ‘The Israelites are to camp round the tent of meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard and holding the banners of their family.’
3 On the east, towards the sunrise: the divisions of the camp of Judah are to camp under their standard. The leader of the people of Judah is Nahshon son of Amminadab. …
5 The tribe of Issachar will camp next to them. The leader of the people of Issachar is Nethanel son of Zuar. …
7 The tribe of Zebulun will be next. The leader of the people of Zebulun is Eliab son of Helon. …
9 All the men assigned to the camp of Judah, according to their divisions, number 186,400. They will set out first.

We already know that everything first has a special place with God, so there is a special significance resting on the alignment of the first three tribes of Israel, which result in the first unit within God’s people (cf. Exodus 13:12-13; Exodus 23:19).

Exodus 13:12-13:
12 you are to give over to the Lord the first offspring of every womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the Lord.
13 Redeem with a lamb every firstborn donkey, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem every firstborn among your sons.

Exodus 23:19:
19 ‘Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the Lord your God. ‘Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.

There is a revelatory truth hidden in this connection that we need to take a look at more closely in the light of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in order to see God’s plan more clearly (cf. Ephesians 1:17-18).

Ephesians 1:17-18:
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, …

The Residence of the Prophet Samuel and the Dynamics of Prophecy

Among other things, the Holy Spirit calls us to be quickened by the power of worship (note: Judah means ‘praise, worship’) to come to a new place of fellowship with God, which is like the dwelling place (note: Zebulun means ‘dwelling, habitation’) of the prophet Samuel, who lived at Naioth in Ramah, where David sought refuge from Saul (cf. 1 Samuel 19:18-19).

1 Samuel 19:18-19:
18 When David had fled and made his escape, he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.
19 Word came to Saul: ‘David is in Naioth at Ramah’; …

In this context, it is about the community of saints who reside or settle in the prophetic culture of God by living in the dynamic of the spirit of prophecy. This results in a spiritual expansion like the prophetic ecstatic state into which Saul’s messengers, and later Saul himself, entered when they came into the presence of the company of prophets (cf. 1 Samuel 19:20-24).

1 Samuel 19:20-24:
… 20 so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came on Saul’s men, and they also prophesied.
21 Saul was told about it, and he sent more men, and they prophesied too. Saul sent men a third time, and they also prophesied.
22 Finally, he himself left for Ramah and went to the great cistern at Seku. And he asked, ‘Where are Samuel and David?’ ‘Over in Naioth at Ramah,’ they said.
23 So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even on him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth.
24 He stripped off his garments, and he too prophesied in Samuel’s presence. He lay naked all that day and all that night. This is why people say, ‘Is Saul also among the prophets?’

The Hebrew word ‘nājôt’ means ‘dwellings’ and comes from the root word ‘nāwāh’, which means ‘pasture, to come to the goal’. (Part excerpt from the Elberfelder Study Bible on the word ‘nājôt’ and the word ‘nāwāh’ with the word key number: 5293*, 5199*, 5196*)

It is God’s focus that we get to the next subgoal through Christ Jesus and glorify the Heavenly Father in this way (cf. John 10:9 i.c.w. Psalm 23:2).

John 10:9:
9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

Psalm 23:2:
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, …

Jesus when He rode as king on a donkey to Jerusalem and there was publicly acknowledged by the people as the prophet and proclaimed king, as well as later entering the house of God, the temple, also reveals the connection within the first formation of the tribes of Israel between Judah, Issachar and Zebulun.

In this context, Judah points to the dimension of the king, Issachar to servanthood in the Holy Spirit, and Zebulun to dwelling in God (cf. Matthew 21:4-11).

Matthew 21:4-11:
4 This took place to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet (cf. Zechariah 9:9): 5 ‘Say to Daughter Zion, “See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” ’
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.
8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, ‘Who is this?’
11 The crowds answered, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.’

The Donkey Tied to the Vine

It is relevant to know that in the blessing of Jacob on his son Judah, it says that he will tie his donkey to the vine and his donkey’s colt to the choice vine. This was fulfilled by Jesus’ commission to His two sent disciples, who untied the donkey and the colt in order to bring them to Jesus (cf. Genesis 49:11a).

Genesis 49:11a:
11a He will tether his donkey to a vine, his colt to the choicest branch; …

Since Issachar carries the prophetic potential to discern the times to give divine counsel to God’s people and bears the mark of a donkey (cf. 1 Chronicles 12:32 i.c.w. Genesis 49:14), it is necessary that we have our prophetic ability tied to Christ alone. The reason is because only He is the true vine, as well as we are called to continue to live in His truth. As a result, we produce good fruit accordingly, which means decisions in accordance to God’s will, and thus the Heavenly Father is glorified (cf. John 15:5.7-8).

1 Chronicles 12:32:
… 32 from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do – 200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command; …

Genesis 49:14:
14 ‘Issachar is a scrawny [strong] donkey lying down among the sheepfolds.

John 15:5.7-8:
5 ‘I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. …
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Moreover, the vine is an upward-twining plant that calls us to ascend in Christ Jesus in kingly authority to bring God’s kingdom treasures to earth and carry them to their predestined place through the wisdom of Issachar.

The ‘Carnivore’, the ‘Herbivore’, and the Dwelling Place of God

Based on the connection of the three tribes of Israel in the first unit, the connection between a carnivore/meat-eater as Judah has the emblem of a lion, an herbivore as Issachar has the emblem of a donkey, which point to the dwelling place, is also clear. From this we may discern the call of God encouraging us to eat His flesh, that is, His solid food (cf. Hebrews 5:14), and meanwhile be guided in the spirit of wisdom and revelation like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah who ate vegetarian food (cf. Daniel 1:11-12.14-17) as we enter more deeply into the dwelling place of God, namely, His presence (cf. John 14:2).

Hebrews 5:14:
14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Daniel 1:11-12.14-17:
11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,
12 ‘Please test your servants for ten days: give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. …
14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.
16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.

John 14:2:
2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

The East Wind and God’s Intervention

Additionally, we may expect the Lord to speak to us with the presence of His face as the Son of Man and to intervene in the form of the ‘east wind’ because it is the first unit of the army of Israel that encamps in the east (note: in front). This may result in the economy of the ‘wicked’ being shaken (cf. Exodus 10:13-15 i.c.w. Psalm 48,4-7).

Exodus 10:13-15:
13 So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, and the Lord made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts; 14 they invaded all Egypt and settled down in every area of the country in great numbers. Never before had there been such a plague of locusts, nor will there ever be again.
15 They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured all that was left after the hail – everything growing in the fields and the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.

Psalm 48:4-7:
4 When the kings joined forces, when they advanced together, 5 they saw her and were astounded; they fled in terror.
6 Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labour.
7 You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish shattered by an east wind.

It is significant that we move forward with God’s intervention to see the triumph of God over our enemies, who are also His enemies. It is like what was happening at the time of the parting of the Reed Sea in the persecution of the people of Israel by the hordes of Pharaoh, whose purpose the LORD thwarted (cf. Exodus 14:21-25).

Exodus 14:21-25:
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.
23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.
24 During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.
25 He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, ‘Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.’

We should turn our faces to God’s face, so that He may touch us with the necessary dynamics of His Holy Spirit for the future, and that we may even boldly fulfil our apostolic mission entrusted by Him (cf. John 20:21-22).

John 20:21-22:
21 Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’
22 And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,
